Fevola 99 Merged Threads - The whinges, the hate, the commiserations and congratulations.

Re: The joyless miser Hawks. We're not joyless. We got to celebrate a forward kicking 100 goals.

    Luke Hodge

I agree Hodge would be an excellent captain but I was watching On the Couch earlier in the year and they had Scott Burns on who made a good point when they asked him about the Collingwood captaincy. He said that most supporters only get to see the players for about 50 hours or so by watching...

One of the best segments on the Footy Show ever.

Given the situation, being that the game is played interstate and the program on in the timeslot isn't a live show I would think it would be no problem for them to show the game live. It's absolute rubbish that they're not IMO.

    How You Became a Hawk!

I started life as a Melbourne supporter like my old man but when I was 10 or so I realised that he didn't really care too much about the footy what with him never taking me to games. It was at that point that I made the move to support the Hawks cos me best mate and his old man are both Hawks...

    Positives

And normally Shane Crawford and Stuart Dew provide experience and accuracy but you can only play the team that shows up.
  6. phez23

    Respect

nah mate, we're already in the finals
  7. phez23

Geelong play at 7% Capacity with 5 key players out and still brush Tassie aside

well he must have had at least 2 kicks since he kicked 2 goals. i know it's upsetting to think that richmond passed on 2 guys in the draft that have kicked 131 goals between them this year but i'm sure you'll work through it
  8. phez23

    Well played Hawkers

thanks guys really want to play you guys again with both sides at full strength to really see how we measure up
  9. phez23

    Well Done Geelong!!!

Not doubting any of that, have a lot of respect for Geelong but it just annoys me that people can say that a team has the grand final won in round 17, even if it is as good a chance as the cats are.

    Positives

young blokes in ellis, tuck, rioli, stokes all played well tonight. both teams tonight had room for improvement, be it skills or guys that should have been in the side
  11. phez23

    Well Done Geelong!!!

Mate Geelong defintitely proved they were the better team tonight but until the last weekend in September we're not gonna know who'll take the trophy. Geelong as good as they are, aren't unbeatable.
  12. phez23

hawks stuffed up or cats too good ??

**** me a port adelaide supporter calling a team a pretender against geelong. didn't realise geelong only had ten players if half their team is out. yes they are the best team in the league but the hawks are closer to 'em than port are champ

Rioli and Stokes: Seventeen tackles between them .....

Re: Rioli + Stokes = 17 great stuff from junior and stoker. definitely shows why stokes was brought back into the side, especially with brown playing forward as well. forward pressure was a big focus in tonights tactics

'X' Ellis to be the next Gun Hawk Midfielder

the x man put in a good show today and will continue to improve as he builds experience
  15. phez23

    The umpires: we are screwed!

saw some dubious calls go both ways in this game. full credit to the cats though, can't blame umps for this one. look forward to having another shot at them in september

Round 17 - Hawthorn vs Geelong (MCG)

well done to the cats. best team in the competition and i hope we get another crack at you in the finals
  17. phez23

'X' Ellis to be the next Gun Hawk Midfielder

definitely seemed composed when under pressure. one of the better games i've seen from the x man
  18. phez23

    Did Junior grab the Car!

what time in the game are we talking here noosa. don't want to miss it on the delayed telecast. **** channel 7

    David Schwartz commentary ......

Re: D Schwartz commentry Had to laugh though when West Coast went inside 50 and turned it over and he said something like - should've went to Cox then but he might not of seen him, he's only six foot seven
  20. phez23

How much will Hawks win by tonight?

Can see both teams coming out to have a huge crack tonight after last weeks disappointment. With our best 22 still not on the park i'm predicting a margin somewhere around the 10-11 goal mark.
  21. phez23

    Our biggest rival?

That's the way I saw it as well.
  22. phez23

    Boyle to the Back line?

In our 1 loss for the season Scott Welsh kicked 4 out of 15 goals. No one else kicked more than 2. Would having Boyle as an extra tall in the backline have changed that? Unlikely.
  23. phez23

Are you/were you a big drinker?

I drink Melbourne Bitter both for the taste and to get drunk.

    What the numbers tell us!

I hope the writer realises that a free kick against is considered a clanger. Take 31 Frees Against out of his clanger tally and he has 23. So he's not quite shanking a kick for almost every goal he's kicked as the writer says.
  25. phez23

Poll; Which team do you hate the most ?

Have to go with Port because of Chad Cornes. He just managed to get them over the line in front of the Bombers.
  26. phez23

Peter Jackson lying on Footy Classfied (comparing lists)?

The stats on footywire are from the start of the season so both teams game averages have since increased by around 8-9 games per player. The current averages for both sides are: Essendon - 84.7 Hawks - 72.7 So basically Jackson was talking shit.
  27. phez23

    Osbourne

It was about a step outside the centre square i think. Awesome goal.
  28. phez23

    Favourite and most disliked commentators

Don't mind most of the blokes you've got in your list there. Lynch and Eddie shit me if they're commentating Brisbane or Collingwood games though. Haven't really heard much of Jarman's commentary either. Used to not like Pickering but the last few games i've listened to his calls he's been...

Your Top 5 Favourite Current Hawks

    5. Luke Hodge 4. Campbell Brown 3. Brad Sewell 2. Jarryd Roughead 1. Grant Birchall
  30. phez23

    Grant Birchall IS kicking efficiency!

Birchall's stat was for players with a minimum of 75 kicks this season. Gilham has had 57. It was in todays Herald Sun in the team sheets.
