Daicos was clear no.1, might not have been like Reid, but pretty hot favourite. Ashcroft is not in that league as an 18 year old.

What have you actually contributed meaningful in your 22 posts in this thread, the most of any non-Richmond supporter? There was some troll about a Richmond draft hand 20 years ago where you were made to look like a peanut, and now it's happening again as you go in to bat for someone who is claiming something that has been shown to be untrue.

JHF absolutely overtook him. How much of that was due to the fact he was signed at Collingwood, but there were certainly no surprises when Horne-Francis was called at #1 (and even the other two ahead of him).

How did JH-F overtake him I wonder when all footy had finished by that stage. Not sure if either attended the draft combine.

I think you'll find no-one was surprised by JH-F at one because everyone knew Daicos was off to the Pies.

Ashcroft is widely (not unanimously - that word was used as hyperbole, which is almost unanimously misunderstood by BF posters) considered the best talent in the draft.

However, Richmond fans seem to think Ashcroft is more like Jack Watts than Jack Dyer.

The real problem then must be the horror of the lack of talent awaiting Richmond's 219 other early draft picks!

Not much of a tanking effort when they won’t even be able to draft the best player with pick no 1.

I’m not saying the no pick will or won’t turn out the best of the pool, I’m saying you don’t have access to drafting the best underage player in the country with pick no 1 Levi ashcroft. And that sucks big time since you have pick 1.

The general consensus is ashcroft is the best talent in this pool. You are realistically getting pick no2 not pick 1. Whichever way you want to look at it it’s not ideal.

The draft is an even one but it seems to lack elite top end talent. The WCE pick trade out is obvious of this.

Probably more likely to get a few B+ graders from this crop than a star player with your firsts.

There is one player who is above the rest and it’s Ashcroft, the rest even out quite quickly for the majority of the first round.

I will put it this way, what was a draft with an elite top end ( considered at the time) was the 2018 crop. This years is not considered that at all.

In 2018 you had Walsh rankine king brothers lukoscious rozzee and Bailey smith….

Now that was an elite 6-7, not this years.

All I said was you aren’t going to draft the best player which is unanimously ashcroft, and that the draft is a very even one without elite standouts at the top end. It’s a deep draft but not an elite one, which works well with your 8 top 30 picks anyway.

Every time the next challenge comes, Ashcroft lifts to it. He made his VFL debut for the Lions and gathered 35 disposals and 11 clearances and since then has produced some terrific performances for the Dragons, including 40 touches and two goals in their qualifying final win over the Calder Cannons. He backed it up with 33 disposals and two goals on Sunday in the preliminary final and is shooting to this week become a three-time premiership winner in consecutive years for the Dragons. Cal twomey is the draft guru And has him no1 like most others. A lot are tipping him further down because they don’t believe Richmond will bid on him. He is unanimously considered the best player of the draft.

His VFL form was light years ahead of any of the players Richmond trialed in their VFL also

I will rephrase, he is unanimously considered the best player in the draft, much like daicos due to being F/S, he is tipped to go a bit lower on some draft boards.

Again, much like nick daicos being the clear no1 player in the draft pool and going no4 due to being a F/S pick, it is similar with Ashcroft this season. You are not getting your hands on the best player in the crop
