If anyone missed Before The Game, they played footage from a WAFL GF. Poor CJ got announced as BOG based on his player number, started his speech, and then a guy grabs him by the arm and says "Hang on Clint - you haven't won it". Shocker

I remember that. I was watching it on TV when it happened, felt really sorry for the bloke, and from then have followed his career with interest.

Seems like a really nice guy who bleeds for the club, so you guys look to have a rookie list success story, even if he is 25. :thumbsu:

I posted a similar thread in May of last year (before this thread so there are other neutral supporters who have noticed him, I didn't want to bump up another thread for your boards sake) and there was a question posed from some of your supporters re whether he would be in your next premiership team. It is a matter of timing obviously, you only have to look at Robert Harvey to see that you could be one of the best players in the comp and not play in a premiership.

After watching you guys this weekend, you would have to say that, barring injuries and form lapses (I really hope not) you guys will give it a real shake this year, can't really find any structural discrepancies in the side, however, you would have to think that, if that next premiership side was in the next couple of years, he would most certainly be in it. Strong, hard working defensive midfielder, who will never get the credit he most certainly deserves for the work he does. :thumbsu:

Just FYI

is the other thread just in case you guys wanted to see the reactions from last year.

Best of luck for the rest of the year, will most certainly be following you guys deep in september this year. :thumbsu:

It's interesting that in an article about Palmer I read today, the writer (I think it was Tim Lane) said that Palmer was working on the "Clinton Jones theory" - namely, that his kicking was poor, and thus he should handball more. While I think Jonesy's kicking has improved, I do think he and Rossco have tailored his game to minimise the need for him to kick to have a real impact. He did some nice handballs on the weekend, including one BOOMING one that I can remember. He's tagging, which requires lots of running, and laying heaps of tackles. Seems a good fit.

Personally, I think he's got the potential to be a very important cog if we DO make it to the podium at the end of the year (long way to go, etc, etc...).

He's nothing alike Riewoldt tho, this is a silly nickname.

Roughy - when did you have the operation - you know, the "sense of humour bypass"? Suppose you think Mini-me looks a lot like Dr Evil!!!

Get politically correct Squizzy.
You must henceforth refer to Jones as:
St Kilda player with hair coloring that makes him look similar to Nicholas Riewoldt from a distance, but who has very different skills and physique and does not really look like him up close.
A mouthful I know but you can call him Skpwhctmhlstnrfadbwvdsapadnrllhuc for short.

( Just for the record I have referred to him as Nick's mini-me ).

Works for me - although people might think I'm a few anchors short of a football team if I start yelling it out.

I reckon Travis Johnstone was ready to put the tracksuit on when he realised CJ was going to run with him for the day. Davey got a few touches at half back (and some kicking out from full back!) and did nothing with them. Stanton got absolutely touched up by CJ the game before the Lions - he is certainly picking them off. Maybe Wells will be the scalp this week?

I owe him a huge apology I was wrong. Didn't think he quite had it but boy has he stepped up a gear this season.
I gave Clint a call & passed it onto him for you. CJ says don't go beating yourself up about it, thanks you for your current support, accepts your apology & says 'Go Saints!'

was a success CJ has been, he just keeps getting better and better, i love it how he never stops trying and his tackles and suberb

never thought i would say this but hasnt mcqualter really stepped up, slots into the forward line mix up perfectly.

Yep. McQ is having a very good year; hard as nails at the pill and the man with the pill, and his forward pressure has been pivitol for us. As a bonus, about 11 goals as well. Nice to see hard work rewarded. :thumbsu:

How good was it when he ducked under a weak Gary Ablett tackle in front of the St.Kilda members, and bolted away down the wing!!!
He's getting better every week.....even his kicking has improved....even though he still looks awkward every time he puts it on his boot. :)
