The more I look at him, the more positive we should try pick up Kaiden Brand.
He has a bit of history with the Saints, my old man (played 3 games with the Saints), Sam Fishers granddad & Brands granddad were all mates.
To add a little more to that my granddad sat his great granddad on his RRR`s in the grandstand at Berri. So as you can see, lots of history there, so we should bring him over to join "The Greatest Club of All" ;):D

P.S. Who needs stories of my dad knows his cousins uncle, who said that his auntie told him that he was a Saints supporter, when you can get true history like mine. :p

we lost dismally out of that draft.

I hope you're joking. Billings, Dunstan and Acres will be our core midfield for the next decade. The trading and drafting that year has set up our rebuild.

Edit: did you mean losing out on drafting Luke Ball? If so, I agree. Imagine those grand finals with Hodge or Judd (or even a pre OP Luke Ball).

I`ve said before & I`ll put it out there again, the Bont is going to be/is a great player. Acres when & I say when, as he doesnt realise fully yet how good he is, will be as good if not better than the Bont.

You know your stuff Monika....

Surely the Bont v billings talk is overdone now. We chose strategically the slow burn types as it would mean they would develop longer and have us gain more high end talent in consecutive drafts rather than having a Bont type that's ready to go when we aren't. Which wouldve led to us rising up the ladde too quickly. Not saying we tanked. Far from it. But it allows us better picks by having the slow burning types of billings/acres.

Strategic drafting. I'd say now we'd go for more quick burn types as we are close to challenging or atleast on the rise.

Nice try but I don't think any amount of spin can make a Saints supporter be happy that we took Billings before Bont

Agree with this, i also think richo holds a few players back.

You are an idiot. If you think otherwise. The old grass is greener quote comes to mind. I'd prefer billings. Why don't you compare billings to Boyd or billings to aish. Get over yourself and your opinion you've said it now move on.

I'd say most of the Billings/Bont obsession comes from Doggies fans, driven by MoC types. Don't get sucked in
With all due respect. I haven't seen a Bulldogs fan compare Billings to Bont in a while. You guys seem to do it daily..
Acres is the one you should be comparing him too. They have very similar traits.

For ****s sake, can we at least wait until their careers are over before we judge this. Sure Bont looks great now, but after round 4 earlier this year, most experts would have said Billings was far ahead of Bontempelli on both output & impact.

Fast forward a few more weeks & Bont hits some form while Billings cops a bad knock on his shin & ankle & loses all form & misses a few weeks.

Footy is a funny game

Remember when we ballsed up the Goddard pick by passing on Wells?

The past 3 days have been hysterically embarrassing over nothing at all

Billings had a poor year and I've said I questioned some of his performances throughout the year, clearly could've been better. I think every coach in the league would love a team of Wright's...that doesn't mean talent, it means playing with guts and playing for your teammates and for the jumper. Nathan Wright is one of the best at the club in that space.

We had a team of Wrights playing for us for most of the 1980's & it wasn't pretty.

Connors manages Billings, not saying that he is leaving but be prepared for him to be shopped around to the highest bidder via the media next season.

I couldn't agree more with you Fat Tony, and Arces is young for his year, almost a full 6 months behind many in that draft year... He's taken time to develop too, and while I think the Bont is a great player, Arces does some things even the Bont can't do... But the Bont is more consistently at a high level.

If your going to compare Billings , who is it too? I cant think of to many players like him.

I think he's just been slowed down because we are trying to make him a two-way player int eh midfield, and until he gets his tank up this work takes away from the attacking side of his game.
