Whoever did the convincing needs a new job it seems.
Paddy was a gun in the u18 carnival in his first year and pretty impressive the second time around.

He will be fine he just needs some time and decent delivery he is a massive kick, accuracy was ok but not great.
Absolutely fantastic hands and good below the knees for such a big bloke.

You could have drafted petracca and he would have been fine except now you would be looking for paddy.

IMHO paddy will end up more Tex Walker than Tom Hawkins.

I have my doubts and reserve the right to say "I told you so" if he fails miserably.

I fixed it for you <3

It's understandable, get the "gun" key position while we've got a top 3 pick. Less likely to be able to get one once we crept up the ladder a bit but still possible to get a "gun" mid with a later pick in years to come, "possible" being the key word. Would have been nice if, like Walker, we got Paddy at pick 75 or so. Got to be in the top few draft choices ever. James Hird and Adam Goodes pretty awesome ones too. Draft gems always a good topic.

My opinion on Paddy hasn't changed much. I think he'll be ok at getting the ball, but he'd better stop leading out wide and get some marks straight in front if he wants to kick 60, 70+ someday. I think he's going to need a lot of shots to have a big year goal wise unless his kicking approach (technique, attitude) changes dramatically. Hope he turns out better than a "rich man's" Levi Casboult! ;) Levi averaging 1.1 goals to Paddy's 1.0 I think atm so better not chuckle too hard.

Keep in mind that GWS have been very good trading partners of ours to this point, so I doubt that any trade for Kelly will be grossly unfair (ie. the 2 and 7 concern several posters have, myself included). They'll drive a hard bargain for a great player for sure, but could you imagine what we'd be up against trying to prise Kelly away from, say... Essendon?

I've been around for a while and have seen some great players come to the club.

I used to get down to training on a regular basis can't tell you how many guys I have seen walk into the club including the great plugger who came the same year as perhaps our greatest wasted talent rod Owen.

Paddy isn't plugger but he will be a very good player for us IMHO . The saints need ten goal kickers not a full forward who kicks ten, paddy just needs to do his job.

Just thinking about Kennedy as steak knives:

From memory Steel was bid on at pick 15. We got him for a 2nd rounder despite GWS wanting to keep him. Kennedy was bid on at pick 13. As such, I don't see why he'd be worth much more than Steele.

Hawks pick and our first next year for Kelly and Kennedy.

I have no doubts over Paddy's ability .
We need to be patient, key forwards take time .
Tex spent a whole season playing 2nds at Norwood in his 1st year on Adelaides list .
Hogan full year with Casey .
Josh Kennedy played 22 games in his first 2 seasons with average return .
Give the kid a fair go .

Plenty of players have been "guns" at U18, a lot of the time it's big boys beating up on little ones such as Mathieson, Angus Graham or Daniel Rich. I'm now convinced Paddy is one of these.

Now that's what I'm talking about

So he's too short to be a KPF but you classify him as a big boy beating up on little kids? Makes sense.

Also, can you please explain how is 194cm too short for a KPF.

I looked at your age and it suddenly made sense. Not your fault but unfortunately your generation doesn't seem to understand delayed gratification.....just want it now. Patience, possum ;)

Rather an early 2nd pick back .
Kennedy has Townsend written all over him.
