couldnt watch the end of the game tonight, was so in shock that we aer not in the GF. But it has been the best 18 months as . Richmond supporter. bring in Lynch next year and watch take all before us.
The way we bombed it into the fwd line tonight and had 3 players competing for mark of the year every contest was a joke. Its a big ask of Lynch to fix that.

Easy to blame defence they weren't great I agree, but were was the pressure and tackling from our forwards and midfield to much easy ball coming in pies.Poor matchups to begin with to.
They killed us in the middle no doubt about it.

Collingwood will not beat Melbourne...we had 16 players on the ground Dusty and Astbury out of it.We still got to within 21 points Lambert turnover and its all over.I have enjoyed this year we will rebuild and come back much harder.Cotch had a good look around as he was walking off the ground they will hurt and be back next year.
Collingwood copied everything we did..they played our game

I thought Dimma nailed it in his presser when he said the guys were too reactive. Simply put, they panicked because of scoreboard pressure and the system broke down.

When we got a bit of composure and played our way we did okay but to their credit they didn't let us play our way for most of the game.

Dimma also said we'd learn from the loss. I'm sure he's right, but it's a very hard way to learn a lesson. :(

Seems like Dennis pagans prediction wasn't so crazy after all.

Ah well it's better to happen in a prelim than on the big stage ala Adelaide choking last year. I didn't watch the fist half - did you guys not have your usual high pressure game going in the first half?

I don't think this loss will age well because I am starting to realise how bad it was.

They say that hindsight is 20/20 but now that I think of it there were signs for a long time that something was amiss. Towards the end of the season both the AFL and VFL sides suddenly dipped in form. I don't know why, but they did. Both started performing terribly at their own home ground too (AFL side still won though) after performing so well in the beginning of the year.

We were not the best side heading into finals in both VFL and AFL and this showed in finals because that is the form you actually take into finals and not the dazzle of the first half. Simple as that. Last year we were in awesome form heading into finals, so circumstances were different this year.

Also, 8.10 to 15.7 tells a story too. Not the full story, but a recurring tale of this year. There are other sides who keep up with their opposition through accuracy whenever they are getting smashed and then have an opportunity to win when momentum swings their way, but we are rarely accurate even in the best of times. That really needs rectifying because we give away so much momentum this way.

Realistically this loss is nothing to the people who have been there through all of the bad years.
With respect, yes it is. I've been there for every single one of those bad years starting at the 1982 GF. Last night's pathetic effort was not "nothing". It was pitiful. How the **** could you even consider playing anyone other than Grimes on DeGoey from the start!?!? How the **** could you even consider playing anyone who is nowhere near 100%, especially as we hadn't done it all year? How the **** could you let Collingwood's best player run around all night without an opponent?

Does Lynch come with another ruckman and a decent, strong bodied midfielder?

I really hope that this isn't just put down to "one of those things", and just glossed over without addressing several glaring problems.

So it seems I'm still really pissed off.

What's your opinion of the pre finals bye? I think it's ridiculous. I feel like it disadvantages teams who win week 1 of the finals. Interesting to see how west coast go tonight
