If we go back to the stats for this year 2019 we get:

Stern

Wicks

Shows stats for 2 quality young players!
I honestly don't think there is a more beautiful kick in NEAFL then Stern.
Perhaps what should be being asked, is why are the Swans happy to cross their fingers on the development of a Vic or SA kid when they have developed quality players like him?
If they put their faith in the sysyem that the Vics fear, take the top academy kids and allow them to develop further in an AFL environment, where they train every day, I think they would be amazed.

I'm no expert and I'm sure others are more informed than myself, but I would guess it possibly has to do with timing and needs. I assume we'd always look at what our needs are going into each draft, and take whoever the best options are to suit those needs, regardless of what state they're from. Odds are there's always going to be a better option coming from the plethora of interstate kids than the handful in the academy. In 2016 we identified outside speed and class as needs for us, and we targeted Florent (who was BOG in the U18s All Star game) and Hayward (who kicked 13 goals in his last two matches of his U18 season.) I can't recall but I doubt there was anyone in the academy in their draft year garnering that sort of attention.

On the few occasions where there's been an academy kid who is superior to most other kids of their age in their positions - like Heeney & Mills as midfielders, or Blakey as a key position player - we've taken them.

Long time reader first time poster. I have a question I genuinely don’t know the answer to

I see Tom Mitchell remains unsigned at Hawthorn for next year, which astonishes me considering his lofty stature and amount of free time on his hands. Let’s say for whatever reason (racist President, pinching Captain, vomit uniform, decaying culture, etc) he wanted to come back home to the bloods and we agreed to terms. My question is, rather than giving anything back to the hawks in a trade, could he nominate in the draft as a father/son?

I’d love to see Kinnear get creative in a way we haven’t seen since the Buddy bombshell of 2013

I thought your one and only time you are eligible to take a father son is the first year they nominate for the draft.

Welcome first time poster :)
I very much doubt that Mitchell would want to come back to the Bloods.

Just watched Allies loss to WA.
Please, can someone point out anyone willing to provide any 1%ers?
Out muscled and pushed around again.
Swans player reviews anyone?
Green played ok, but no support.
O'Neil should be moving up draft boards
So many players who have magic feet, but no tackle or defensive pressure again.
Gaden stood up! Big game

The kids largely want to build their stats...one percenters don’t show up is my guess...and recruiters don’t pay much attention to anything but stats it seems

It has nothing to do with WA being a better team? Which they are. This isn't even a good WA juniors team compared to previous years, but they're good enough

True.
They were good.
But they were a balanced 'team', rather then a team of individuals.
My concern isn't the players, it's how the selectors put the team together.
I have followed most of the NSW and Qld players pretty closely over the last few years, and think those in the Allies are quality players.
However, when they play their football they are a part of a team that plays roles and allows each to shine.
Allies, not so much.
The only 2 players in the Allies who's stocks have gone up are O'Neil (he was already known as talented) and Gaden, who got to be a presence in the ruck by being aggressive.
All other players have been let down by having to play in a team of individuals more concerned with possessions and the 'big plays' rather than being able to play their role.
No 1%ers or big defence which means that so many disposals are rushed and ineffective, and in a lot of cases, clangers!
Watch the game, and watch how many of the 'big names' are seagulling around the ball, and how they suddenly find extra speed in attack when there is a chance of scoring!
It's the type of player, not the fault of the player!

If stephen hill is considering moving to the suns, we should at least ask the question. Good ball user, good runner, slightly injury prone that would lower his price

Way too injury prone. Huge red flag imo.

203 games in 10 seasons (20.3 per season over a decade). Tell us more about your fabulous medical abilities

Love to know how many he's played in the last 4 years....it sure as anything wouldn't be more than 10 games a year...Giving up two arms an a leg for a player who can't stay on the park. PASS! I want a midfielder in this draft, not taking Hill.

Obvious risk but he is a talented player and could provide value provided you get him relatively cheap. Would like him coming off hb or having he and florent on opposing wings

Can't see how we'd get him on the cheap.

I don’t want him but since you ask:

2018 - 13 games
2017 - 18
2016 - 21
2015 - 23

AFL Evolution says that the Bulldogs agree that Cunningham and Melican for Bontempelli is a win-win trade.

Get it done Tommy.

Eh? How does that work?

Edit: Bloody hell, ignore me, I was reading ‘Cunnington’ not ‘Cunningham’! Time for a lay down I think

Is there anything we can do to help..... I'd even un-ignore poster Bedford.
