We simply cannot entertain trading Papley or Jones unless we get players back from somewhere. Losing a gun small fwd and fast midfielder is something we simply cannot afford.

problem with jones is could be trade or let walk

Maybe we should be careful about speculating on a player's private goings on. I'd imagine friends or relatives may read some of this stuff here out of curiosity.I know it's all tongue in cheek but I still cringe. Maybe it's just my own guilty conscience making me nervous for them.

Do you really think they would?

If I was an actual player I would come on here and read it. Not all would but some would venture here would be my assumption. Would a friend of a girlfriend read something and pass it on. Possible not probable I guess.

The Swans should just tell Carlcrims that it's this years and next years firsts or nothing. The club doesn't want him to go, Papley himself isn't desperate to leave and his in contract. It's simple, they have to pay over if they want him. Pick 10 is not overs given he's one of the best small forwards entering his prime and doesn't get injured.

Beyond the Jones, Papley and Cameron rumours floating around, I guess players like Rose are looking for a trade. I note Brisbane closely checked Rose in the PF, indicating their respect for him. I would be surprised if he is not picked up somewhere.

I wonder whether there are other players the Club would consider putting on the table in the event of chasing an established A grade player.

Footscray are in desperate need for kpds and kpfs, especially as Naughtin seems to have picked up a serious knee injury. They have a surfeit of mids. Unfortunately Melican made Naughtin look like Bob Pratt. Still, I would put Melican on the table as a bonus with pick 4/5 for McRae. Another option would be a straight swap for Parker or Reid plus Melican.

Collingwood need KPFs. If they do not win the Premiership this will be highlighted. We need a ruckman. Would the Club consider Reid plus whatever we get for Papley as part of trade for Grundy?

lewis johnston 2nd in the mgarey medal. its an option.

There is no doubt about his talent. However he has had two cracks on AFL lists and his age may now count against him. Suspect he could have won three Magarey Medals in a row and we would not be interested.

To get daniher i think we will have to let papley go
Why? Papley is much more valuable than Daniher. Papley should have another 8-10 years x 30 goals P.A. plus many more score assists ahead of him. Given Danihers history he probably has 5 half seasons x 20 goals P.A. He also as OP which we our medicos don't have a good history with.

I like Paps and want him to stay but if we got pick 8 (or 10?) for him we should take that and run. The club won't be planning on staying down the bottom for long. Along with our pick 5/6, that's either two top 10 picks to use in the draft in the one year we're down here, or two top 10 picks to use to land an Angus Brayshaw or Brad Crouch. Win/win scenario.
Bradshaw or Crouch would be great but we'd be without a small forward. Ronke isn't up to it.

Yes I've thought the same thing.
I know someone who knows Papley on a social level and he made out to her that he was pretty happy here in Sydney- living his childhood dream was the actual terminology.
He also never bothered to mention to her- or her friend whom he got pretty up close and personal with, that there was a GF in Melbourne ;)
I see what you're doing there. Spreading rumours in the hope that they break up and he stays. Very clever 😉😉

The Senior players have had their review and the NEAFL players are having their reviews today.

Does this mean we can expect news of any delistings soon?
I would have thought that the decision to delist would have been made by now and the players informed before they have their holidays, to give them time to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Intriguingly, Sydney told the media that he was contracted for the next four years last week. That will make it harder, but expect the Blues to get their man late in the trade period.

What we can't lose is established Players with the list in its current phase. Which both players are. You lose them, 2 Players who come in has to be a like for like scenario. You do that, Your list with its growth the last couple of seasons has taken a step forward but 2 back.

No way , no how is paplet worth more than daniher.

#1 he is a small fwd/make shift mid
#2 he really hasnt achieved anything. Very good this year but still a ways off from being elite. Didnt even make AA 40 man squad
#3 daniher is a key forward and a proven one at that. Key forwards are arguably the most valuable players in the game, hence when you get a talented but yet undeperforming one such as sam reid over the years, you hold on to them.

There is literally dozens of players in the afl capable of playing papleys role to his level or higher.

Ben brown, buddy, cameron, tom lynch and tom hawkins are the only players on the same level or higher than daniher. Plus none of them can play dual position like joe.

Papley was great this year, and is going to be a very dangerous playere for years to come, but imo he is not as valuable in the league as some on here believe

This just isn't true. There's a few nearing retirement (Breust, Ablett, Betts).

There's a few with ongoing currency (Cameron, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Ryan).

Small forward is a very difficult role to play effectively and that's why Papley is worth so much. And why Betts was worth every cent of the $500k per year he was paid by Adelaide.
