It's good for me/us to imagine the 'art of the deal' but I just know we'll behave like Springfield buying a Monorail.

AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
There is the very real possibility that we aren't an actual football club but are in fact a sub-plot in a soap opera.I just know we'll behave like Springfield buying a Monorail.
Would you grab Paddy Ryder who wants a 2 year deal. I know he is 31 but he will come cheap and let us play Lobb at FF. Is 2 years of Ryder better than Meek? If we are going on another 3 year rebuild (and lose Fyfe, Mundy and Walters) at the end then no but if we think we can overcome the injuries and be top 4 next year then yes.
Kill to be a fly on the wall. Which players are happy ross is gone. Which players miss him.
Walter's looked up to him that is for sure.
Yep this. In fact there is an article today indicating that GWS enquired with AFL for full clarification. They only have to match the full entirety of $ for the duration. If $5M over 4 years regardless of what is set-up in the individual years then $5M over 4 years is what they have to match. To match a free agency deal they only need to show that they can fit the total value inside the length of the deal.
Take Freo as an example. If Stephen Hill was offered $10,000,000 over seven years, we only have two currently contracted players in 2023 and that deal goes from 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. We could absolutely be able to fit ten million in our salary cap over that period, we could put all of it in any of 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. The issue is that should Stephen Hill decide to sign with us the manner with which we showed we could match becomes the salary cap impact for us.
Have you heard of Sean Darcy? He is the guy who towelled Ryder up in round 13, we should get him
Do you have a link because I would like to ask a couple of Hawthorn fans their thoughts on the matter...Yep this. In fact there is an article today indicating that GWS enquired with AFL for full clarification. They only have to match the full entirety of $ for the duration. I believe their enquiry shows they will match. Also shows to me they are very worried about losing him. Carlton will prob have pick 9 or 10 (Hawthorn the other pick). Prob for Hawks is they haven’t used a first round pick in years and might not be able to trade it. Hawthorn will also likely use their 2nd pick on Patton. Carlton on the other hand have had years of using first round picks and made it clear they have their first pick on the table.
Carlton or GWS for mine. Leaving GWS with pick 9/10 and prob an early 20’s pick. Allowing St Kilda the opp to trade for eg 5 + 2020 3rd round for 9 and 23. But no incentive for GWS because Sydney May bid on Tom green at 4 so Pick is a waste. It is Adelaide’s Pick 3 they will be after.
Leaving pick 5 for us if they want BHill.
Yep, I think I’m in the same camp as you on this. He’s not the messiah.Fyfe, Cerra, Brayshaw are all inside mids.
Blakely if playing in the middle, is an inside mid as well.
I am think we have our quota of inside mids, and really need some class on the outside.
For that reason, I don't want Kelly especially as we would have to give up a top 10 pick for him.
This is not to say he is not a good player, he is just is not a need for our team at the moment.
cause playing 3 rucks worked out well last time hahaThats why I said Lobb to FF. Darcy and Ryder 1st and 2nd ruck. Ryder would be an improvement on either Meek or Jones and come home cheap.
Kelly thing is getting a bit ridiculous for me. Okay if he is worth two first round picks to Geelong I'd expect they are offering him a whopper contract.
Duncy for us to go over the top...pick six as much as we should go.
Powell-Pepper (2020) is definitely someone we should look at imop...there is risk in some areas but he is on the up and he may settle and be consistent...even an elite player. Bolton the other (2019).
Agree, he looks to fill a need for us.Bolton in my opinion is the player I would target.
Less net cost, massive upside - quick, great hands and a goal kicker who can rotate through the middle.
He torched us this year at home, really would go for him instead of massive overs on TK.
Really like TK but not at the asking price.
Give Geelong our best offer early which is not 2 top 10 picks and then cease conversation, they will then only really have to engage with the Eagles then and their bargaining will be severely compromised. Geelong will want to play us off against each otherGeelong want 2 top picks.
Agree, he looks to fill a need for us.
Can someone provide insight about Jack Martin and Callum Ah Chee?
Are they good characters?
When fully fit, are they best 22?
Losing two wingers for two inside mids while we already have guys like Blakely, Brayshaw and Cerra being wasted out of position? No thanks.I can live with B.Hill swapping out for T.Kelly & Langdon for Gus Brayshaw.
Cats get the pick we get from St kilda for Hill & Langdon is just a straight swap.
