I would definitely swap Parfitt for M Crouch. Wouldn't even hesitate.
Geelong would never do it. They would have to be completely insane to even consider it.
Right now Parfitt=MCrouch

By two years time? Parfitt>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>M Crouch
Not that disposal numbers are the be all end all but Parfitt only averaged 15.5 this season, he isn't exactly an accumulator nor does he kill you with his disposal.

Compare that to Matt who put up a touch over 26 touches a game, I'd have Matt way ahead at this point in time.

Parfitt has more midfielders to fight with but Matt is ahead h2h right now imo.

You aren't suggesting that losing our B&F and a Brownlow medallist was actually a factor in improving our side... surely?
As we've seen with him at Geelong, he makes his team's better in an individual sense but he does little for team structure.

Late to the party, but are you talking about Danger who is a gun midfielder who they need up forward there as well and got them into a Grand Final? Which part of the team structure is he hurting? The ruck?

A trop 10 pick they want..gee, it would be great to hear the club say they are speaking to GWS and could offer pick 9 for Caldwell and Hately. I would gladly offer that pick for the both of them

Agreed, nice aggressive move bringing I two young midfielders starved for opportunity but with a couple of pre seasons under their belt.

Money talks, we've just got to offer hard to refuse deals.

We definitely need to now move Matt Crouch on, or suffer the same fate of losing him for bugger all in a year or two.

Why? They're two separate individuals making their decisions best for their own personal circumstances.

And how is Matt any different to any other player on our list approaching RFA or FA status, especially those from interstate....these same people talk club culture...I'll give them a tip loyalty works both ways when it comes to club culture.

Matt Crouch is being shopped for a top 10 pick, Expect this to surface sooner or later.

Current Interest is -
Bombers
Fremantle
Gold Coast

Any interest in Andrew Phillips as a DFA for ruck back up. Always been solid from what I've seen, and better than Strachan. I know he's 29, but for a couple of years would only be break glass.

If we hadn't contracted Strachan, then yes but no need to have a senior ruck option, if we were going to add another, take a punt on a young ruck and see if he can develop

We might be better off doing the inverse of what you are suggesting, which is keep Matt for now and cross the bridge in a year or two if we lose him cheaply.

Brad going and Sloane aging puts a rather big hole in our experienced midfielders (especially with Laird only being a half season wonder at the moment) and we do need someone to lead that line, until our next generation is ready to assume that responsibility. The list of people capable of that at the moment does start and end with Matt.

Unless we got an offer which is ridiculous for Matt, it certainly doesn't serve our purposes to move him on. We are rebuilding, and it doesn't take a lot for rebuild to fail.

At least give Nathan van Berlo in his 1st year something resembling a midfield to work with. This board definitely suffers from "Shinynewtoyitis"...

I'm ok with this. But not likely to happen.

I think the board is actually realising that the way back to the promised land is a loooong way off!!

Matt Crouch is a player that will be looking for success in his career and I do not see that coming at the AFC. Would make perfect sense for him to be looking elsewhere ... and we all know where that ends up.

People said the same about Brisbane not that long ago, new coach, new direction, high end draft picks and some astute trading...voila competitive again in a quite short space of time.

This all but proves the trade period is a few days too long. Absolutely nothing going on when some clubs have probably been chatting for weeks. They just leave it and see what else pops up

It's called Karma .....ESS come out and demand a 1st round pick for Fantasia ...and then offer a 2nd pick for a much better player in Caldwell

No wonder GWS are upset ....they're seeing their club being "raided" by all other clubs & they're retaliating

I just see an opening here that if there is an impasse, why not speak to GWS and say we will give you pick 9 for caldwell and Hately - unders from their end but a hell of a lot better than a 2nd and maybe a 3rd we would give them fort Hately. If they are happy with that, the get in the ear of Caldwells manager with a good contract. The advantage we would then have is that Essendon would be caught in a real bind as they would have to substantially up their offer as they can't risk the PSD as we are there waiting. What else are they going to do - the national draft?..and use pick 6 on him? I don't think so and if we ended up with the dogs pick 14, we could easily use that on him - I think he would well be worth it. We could really wedge Essendon here if we wanted to really try and make a play for Caldwell and I think GWS would be quite obliging if he would not stay on with them

Caldwell is definitely worth it ....absolutely have a go at getting him

I'd do that deal for #9 ......just highly doubt again we're aggressive enough to do it

We have this mentality that the Draft is the only way to rebuild .....and the club's not looking for these little gems that come along

I think the Crows would be 100% on the phone to Caldwell.

Im dreamland Caldwell will opt for Adelaide and come in Trade week because Gws refuse to entertain Essendon. And deals can get done.

Reality however is Caldwell gets to Essendon on Essendons below market picks because something is better than nothing. Or he walks to Essendon in the psd because Essendon offer a heavily front loaded contract like $1m and the Crows can't or wont match.

We’d easily be able to match a heavily frontloaded contract like $1m in the first year now Brouch, Atkins, eddie and Hartigan are all off the books...
