Taranto was my first thought

Taranto would cost a fortune and would be in the top few players GWS would not want to lose.

Not opposed to getting him but we’d need our first rounder this year and a decent player or another decent pick trades in.

Two mid first rounders or a mid first rounder and a player and GWS would still not be real happy.

It won’t be Daniel Lloyd. He’s 29 next year- and Parker is a better prospect imo.

I would love Taranto but obviously would cost a lot trade wise, BnF in a GF year as a 21 year old last year.

Hypothetically speaking if it were to be true, could Carlisle be involved in a trade for him?
I personally really want Snake to stay, but we still haven’t offered him a contract from reports have we?

Last I heard Snake’s missus left the Noosa Hub to NSW where her family is. While Taranto’s mum and family live in Melbourne.

Taranto + Caldwell package deal for Carlisle + draft picks on the cards possibly.

Having said that it’s all just hypotheticals, and even IF we did have a zoom pitch with a GWS player (Taranto or not) it really doesn’t mean anything just yet.

I was hoping Carlisle could hang on until Ben King arrived in 2022
Reckon Bing would have some rotten guts after watching his brother on Friday night.
Should be a saint this year if not for AFL intervention, not sure what price you pay for playing finals with you brother....but it will sting For him in a couple of weeks.

Don’t get me wrong I’d love Taranto but it seems to far fetched to me. Would surely be close to the last player GWS would let go.

Isn't he expecting a kid soon? If so she probably went back to Sydney and family for the birth.
Pretty understandable I would have thought.

I hope we keep Snake too. My hope is they are just being very open with the unknown list sizes and therefore the offer on the table.
Does anyone know when they are going to officially state list sizes? Would think it would have to be soon if going to be significant change.

I’m pretty sure Brian Speaking also said in an earlier tweet that Jake could be involved in a trade to GWS for Caldwell.

Yep she’s due in the next couple weeks I believe- I meant to mention that, definitely understandable. Families make the choice to move interstate to be closer to family all the time, although not sure how much of a factor it is if Jake’s family live in Melb- was just a random connection I made between his missus family living in NSW and possibly being open to a move to a NSW club if we ended up pushing him out the door. Which I hope doesn’t happen because unless we’ve definitely got someone lined up, or plan to move Battle back again which seems unlikely, it’d seem like creating an unnecessary hole.

That being said I have faith that the club knows exactly what they’re doing and I have no reason to doubt them after our recent player movments.

Hopefully they confirm the salary cap and list size changes soon, I agree it’d be holding us up a bit.

That’s interesting. I wonder what our plans for CHB is if we do move him on. Austin and Clav shouldn’t be our first options, I wouldn’t mind Battle being moved back but I also think he has a lot of potential up forward and the freedom to swing him is more enticing.

Pearce from Freo has been thrown around. I’d be interested for sure if he passed a medical.

In the Footyology podcast this week Finey said that Ben King would definitely come back to Victoria. Perhaps that isn't a major scoop. And he didn't say it was to the Saints or even when. But he was so adamant that I took notice. His final word was that he doesn't make things up. My memory of Finey was exactly that. His mail was usually pretty good.

Carlton will be paying Williams between 850-900k for 5 years.

Tom Morris also said he believed they were offering him ~700k a season didn’t he? If you were watching on FoxFooty. That’s much more than I expected and not sure how true that is, but if it’s accurate, I wonder how that money being freed up effects their ability to keep the others.

The extra $150k he gets from the AFL a year for 3 would help soften the blow.

My memory of Finey was him letting Saints supporters absolutely melt down live on radio after another loss lol.
It’s a real shame there isn’t much footy talkback anymore.

Wont be until after this contract otherwise he forfeits the $150k a year the AFL gives him for Ambassador money.

Just saw the "On the Couch' team discussing how 850k was ridiculous overs for a player like him.
