Purpose of a comp pick is for FA compensation, not to do dodgy side deals to add new picks to a trade. No need to pull our pants down because we're going to get him for free

Do you think St Kilda waited until Sunday to get an overlap with the trade period? If the clubs have to agree on a trade, creating 815 points out of nothing with the compo would help.

Something like:

Adelaide trade 22 and 49 to St Kilda for 17 and next years 2nd and 3rd

Adelaide take 23 compo. ST kilda get Crouch.

Adelaide lose Crouch and 49. Gain 17 and next years second and 3rd

St Kilda pay next years second and 3rd and a five pick downgrade for Crouch and 49.

If saints finish 8th say, picks 29 and 47 next year.

In: 2780 points

St Kilda out: 1965 points
St Kilda in : Crouch and 1132 points

Adelaide receive net 1648 points - pick 7 for crouch

St Kilda pay net 833 points - pick 22 for crouch

Might look complicated, but St Kilda pay ~22 for Crouch, with upside if you finish higher than 8th.

I think the AFL shafted you with that one.

If they gave you pick 21 (which is exactly the same as pick 23) it would be a first rounder and then we probably would be happy to do pick swapping as we then can trade out our future firsts.

But with a second rounder as compo I think you might have to wear it and wheel and deal or Bradley stays for 5 years.

Still have a feeling that Adelaide will match, no idea where it goes after that but I really can’t see them not matching.

Not sure how we get Higgins done without moving out the likes of Roberton, Dunstan, Webster and potentially Ross.

A winning trade period for me would be Crouch as an RFA, Higgins for a second rounder through player trades and keep this years and next years first rounders. Alternatively trade this years first to have two first rounders for 2021.

Going to be an exciting week or so for us.

In years past there was always people we were happy to trade away but at the moment I’m pretty happy with our list . Obviously we can improve with Crouch etc but I can’t say there are too many I want to lose .
