Adelaide is a club run by flops.
With Mark Ricciuto and Rod Jameson on the board they are treading water in their club management. Only recently they had Nigel Smart and Brett Burton involved with the club as well, an old boys club that were totally incompetent. At long last we have got our administration in order, the contrast between the clubs is very stark indeed.

A couple of points.

1) Saints structure the contract to be fair to both Crouch (if he meets the triggers) and the Saints who protect themselves from Crouch's injury history.
2) It was structured for both our club and the players benefit and what we deemed was fair value and what we could afford in our cap as we look forward 2 to three years and management of emerging players
3) Nobody has mentioned that Edmund on SEN mentioned that Dunstan and Webster had not even been mentioned as a supplement trade to soften the deal
4) Lethlean was pretty stong in our preferred deal was FA with no trades
5) If we trade our first we need to use our first next year and it seems to be slated for use for trading next year.

Put that all together and....

Make of that what you will.....

#Whispers:
St Kilda not offering enough salary to get band 1 was a conspiracy by St Kilda and the AFL. We had advice from AFL House and knew exactly what was needed to trigger it and went just below it with the expectation that the crows won't match - get the player for no picks, ensure the crows don't get a top end pick to further push their own pick down the order and with the least risk the crows will match the offer to force them to trade.

St Kilda were also doing this to make sure their own 1st rounder wasn't pushed back further.

Lethlean used his AFL house connections.

Rumour source = Tier 5 - Crows nuffies on their board.

Man the Adelaide board is a mess
They are starting to understand the position they are in now. It’s dawning on them, one by one...

Great read and a fantastic chance to observe the evolution of monkeys and the like

Which of the five stages of grief are the Crows up to?

  • denial.
  • anger.
  • bargaining.
  • depression.
  • acceptance.
I will fast forward it for them.

acceptance - 23 in this draft is a lottery and we could pick up the next Lance Franklin as nobody has seen their development. Also we are saving 3.5 million over 5 years on an injury prone good but not great mid, who would never be in our next tilt at the flag.

their you go Crowbots, you are welcomed

its a bit like the start of 2001 A Space Odyssey with the slow evolution of conscious thinking. :D

I feel like they are tip toeing into anger. Slowly but surely they will all get there.

very enjoyable reading at the moment.

Keep a player you don’t want on a deal longer then you wanted to offer.

or

lose the player after he and his agent agreed to a number of low trigger clauses that screw his ex club out of maximum compensation.

My mother in law sold her house recently, she had a price in mind and was hoping for loads of bidders to drive the price up.

Unfortunately only 2 serious bidders turned up and the result was a little below expectations which was disappointing - but in the end she was committed to selling and accepted the highest bid and sold the house.....

Oh, she then spend the next few weeks abusing the buyer for not continually increasing their own offer despite no competition in order to meet her expectations. Standard practice really.

By matching are they literally begging Lethers for some charity and hoping we trade our first just for them to save face?

I honestly can’t see why they’d match because they 100% don’t wantto be paying him $600k for the next 5 years

The Crouch compensation pick 23 is the first pick of the second night of the draft. A prime pick to draft an overlooked gun.

It’s probably a more valuable pick than our pick 17, especially when you consider that clubs can trade live draft picks during the draft.

I reckon Adelaide will consider this and will be happy not to match our bid for Crouch.

Emailed the club. Won't be renewing if Brad Crouch compo of pick 23 is accepted.

Now full blown into anger.

Will pass through bargaining and depression at warp speed if Adelaide don't match and straight to acceptance
