This is why the club needs to continue to pump resources into the academies, get the game as big as we can in nsw and start to enjoy the benefits of poaching kids away from the other clubs

Ladhams I am not really fussed either way ..if we sign him we have ready to go 1st ruck and potentially a lot more years in him left. If he doesn't I think Amartey with another year under him could share rucking duties and we can look at another ruck next year (Ladhams will be out of contract as well!) Would rely a lot on Hickey staying fit next year but with Sinclair still around we have some cover.

Who knows this has come out of left field. Who knows how much of it is for cap relief for Port and who knows whether it's Ladhams approaching us. Probably a bit of A and a bit of B It is why I don't see him as someone we should give a first for

Have a feeling we wouldn't have signed Sinkers if we knew this a month ago. The other negative is this impacts us going after a mature aged KPD such as Talia (don't worry I'm just using him as an example). We now may have upwards of 6 rucks on the list with 1 coming next year in the academy. Have a feeling McLean or Amartey leave at the end of the year with Sinkers who will basically be the NEAFL ruck.

If the interest is real in ladhams, I hope it’s something the club has looked at all year. Being talked into taking an overpriced ruck in the space of 3 days by a club is pretty shitty list management. I would hope the club had targets/roles it wanted to strengthen on the list from the start of the year

I can get it long term I just worry what Ladhams wants over the next 2 years, it isn't as if Hickey is going anywhere, and he isn't really that good a forward he's okay as a resting ruck but that's it. Your McLean and Amartey types seem much more forwards however on the flip side they aren't AFL standard rucks. So in conclusion I get it and it's highly unlikely there is another Ladhams type on the market next season when we need to prepare for life after Hickey but there are challenges. Complicating things is where does that leave Logan?

I agree but it's where the amount of talls come into it. If I had my way he starts FF, Bud at CHF next year. Let him learn from Bud. The others can work around that, whether it be a Ladhams type or McLean as the third tall who knows.

Very true. The interesting thing about Logan though is that he has only been playing forward for a couple of season predraft. He was always a midfielder. I am sure he will stay forward, but that does make me curious as how he will go in the midfield.

So basically Port are picking Ladhams up while he is sleeping and driving him to the airport. Surely it lowers his value given how keen they are to get rid of him.

I think Port are trying to move him while they can get maximum value for him. They see Hayes as the Lycett replacement and Finlayson as the third tall with Dixon and Georgiades. All fair enough.
If we won't come at their price they are not really any worse off keeping him. He or Finlayson play 2s.
Timing sucks for us a bit is all. One year either side would have been better.

I think that with horse signalling Heeney moving to the midfield would give us a forward line of
Wicks, McLean, Mcdonald
Papley, Buddy, Hayward
