He seems almost like the forgotten man of the draft.
Consensus first rounder but there just doesn't appear to be any 'buzz' about him.
He's almost an afterthought.
On various boards you see guys like Goater, Taylor, Sonsie, Johnson etc being talked up and then someone says "what about Draper?" and the reaction is oh ya he'd be alright, but I'd prefer......
Interestingly 'strength' is an area they believe he can improve.Arlo Draper Draft Profile

Watching his highlights he seems quite capable of standing up in a tackle (and delivering one himself).
Twomey;
Ranked 15th.

The ability to play across all three lines seems to be something that gets a tick from our recruiters as does disposal (decision making and execution).

Do you do tombstones?Arlo Draper is a very basic and forgettable name in this year's draft.
A lot aren't though. Look at Florent. He has been in the system a number of years now and for all his great qualities he is still a crappy kick.
From my watching I think when it's crook it's more a question of decision-making than kick mechanics. Maybe aiming? Ball flight usually looks OK.he's not always a crappy kick
Something to lighten up the mood on a Saturday night
I am guitar leaning in my likes of any song. Bluesfest I recommend you get to at some stage in your life. It changes you.A favourite song (Alice) of my HSC year (1969). I was more Hendrix and Canned Heat.

Big question in my mind is why is it sometimes very good and sometimes not by a fair bit. Mental?
Contrast to me is JMac who hardly ever seems to concede a turnover from a misdirected kick. Playing much the same position most of the time.
Bit of a puzzle.
I know you want him out of the team but what is your alternative. What do we do with Florent?Per the bolded, I have no idea why Florent is considered a good kick because he sometimes produces elite kicking. There's literally not a single medium-to-small sized player in our best say 25 who does not have the occasional elite moment by foot. Even JPK & Parker.

He's only got one stage left if he did HSC in 69'! OLD !I am guitar leaning in my likes of any song. Bluesfest I recommend you get to at some stage in your life. It changes you.
From my observation most players precision follows more or less a normal distribution. Lots of factors, especially available time and pressure, tiredness etc.Per the bolded, I have no idea why Florent is considered a good kick because he sometimes produces elite kicking. I don't think we need to pinpoint a player to get out of our team. I think we just need to draft and trade and let nature take its course.I don't want him out of the team rusty, and there is no alternative (yet). But he is the clear 22nd man to me, at the bottom of an ever-growing list of midfield options in our 22 and with no discernible attribute he can offer over anyone else. He seems to get a kind of free pass because of his "evasiveness" and "sometimes elite kicking", like none of the others offer those things...?
I want him to improve and go ahead of the others, otherwise I think he will be out of the side.
That is correct. I know personally that the swans used to have remedial groups for certain skills, so if your kicking was suss, you would have to do extra time in the kicking group, etc.But it is not mutually exclusive.. Players can be better kicks with better coaching.

life kicked in a bit later for me ... didn't mind that stuff when i got to know more about it
but the punk era was my time
Did you have a mohawk?
ha, no ... the 'fashion' side of it was lost on me ...

Goater, Draper, Taylor, Sonsie is my vibe
Finn Calaghan looks good. What's more he is named after Finn McCool the great Irish hero of the Cronicles. Finn McCool is supposed to have been an Irish hero who as a boy was unbeatable at Hurling. Being so agile as to be able to leap free over the tallest player. He never missed a goal or a pass.
This kid's kicking sounds just like Dawson's. Long and accurate and makes good decisions. He is touted at 17 so around our pick. He is named as liw as 5 in some drafts apparently. Hope we can get him. He is a winger and could move into the mids. He is also a good handballer and will use the best option. He sounds just what we need

Florent sometimes kicks absolute clangers way out of the normal distribution. Those are the issue with him, not the normal range of kicking.
JPK for instance sometimes skims straight along the ground, but usually still towards the target and less likely to generate a turnover.
I got them from Footywire.
