Vic Metro v Vic Country U19 for those interested. Match tomorrow.

Want to see how Gibcus goes. Gosh I hope he drops low enough for us.

View attachment 1173270

Aside from Gibcus and just on names alone I will be interested in our recruiters looking at the following-
Bravo!
'The' Goater
MacDonald (we need another macca)
The great Gadsby!! (I know - different spelling)
'Gentleman Jim' Cleary
Worner (need another)
Goes like the Windhager

Our recruiters should avoid
Rentsch - will find it a wrench to move from Vic

** Yes, I have grabbed my coat and hat and I'm out of here **

JPK, Buddy, Rampe, Naismith
Heeney, Lloyd, Cunningham
are all free agents next year. Theres a thing these days of trading 'pre-agents'. I cant imagine JPK. Rampe or Naismith playing at another club (if at all).
Any thoughts on trading Heeney, Lloyd or Cunningham?
For mine????
Heeney stays - Face of the club, and if fit is elite
Cunningham - been a big fan for a few years now, is underestimated so probably not worth much at the trade table, and loving his work as a small defender. Cunningham stays unless the Swans rate Ling which sadly doesn't seem the to be the case
Lloyd is one that may be worth something? Can we replace his game off half back. Gould, Dawson, Blakey, Campbell, Stephens, Ling?????
I could see Stephens playing that conservative role.. he's got the attributes, good short passing game, elite running ability, will be better 1 on 1 than Lloyd
Can also see Ling, Gould, Campbell distributing / running off half back - all would be more attacking than Lloyd

Lloyd would be the only one I'm open to, and only if he wants to go elsewhere first, certainly don't want to push him out. I'd like him to be a career player for us. Don't think Stephens will play that role, he'll be an inside/outside mid and maybe more inside if he can bulk up. I doubt Ling will be at the club after this year and Gould hasn't been playing that role (he'll be a 3rd tall/intercept defender), nor does he have the tank. In the short term, maybe Campbell, but probably doesn't have the tank yet and by the time he does, he'll be further up the ground. Blakey might bump Dawson up the ground instead.

So in short, probably don't have the player yet to replace Lloyd by themselves. At least from the players mentioned, and without taking someone from further up the ground in an establish position (Florent, McInerney (also needs a bigger tank).

Defence is our prospective weakness at this point. Jury is out on Gould and Ling appears to be out of time. No way we lose Lloyd.

The SA contingent is the risk.

And I do wish Parker would hurry up and sign.

Tbf, player salaries should be public
No they shouldn't... not unless every Australians wage/salary/commission etc is made public.

Only reason for us to know is to give our opinion on their value, just plain old fashioned sticky-beaking!

As a teacher at the top of the pay scale, you can find my wage in the space of 1 google search and a click of the mouse.

That is pretty good money.
Yes it is. But for the hours you actually do, the bullshit that you have to put up with from some parents, colleagues, school and departmental leadership and the amount of paperwork taking over the role (and the stress and guilt created because it takes away from actually teaching), there are fewer and fewer staying in the profession. I give it 5 years and we will be in dire straits with teacher shortages across the country.

They should just show us the % of the salary cap then ;)

I am still keeping my accreditation just in case I need to go back. It is only $100 a year so it isn't too bad.

Vic clubs will never allow the salary cap to become public as it will reveal third party player payments due to quality players on seemingly low contracts.

eg Riewold on Fox, cashies for chatting to sportsman's nights, really coterie groups..

The demise of the Footy Show burnt McGuire's scope to pay Pie players as ... erm ... umm ... entertainers?
