So with Philp now on the LTI we get 3 picks in the draft, right? I don't know if we'll use them all but it's a good draft to pick up some potential bargains in given how many players would've slipped through the cracks last year due to covid
You'd think so unless there is some impediment like salary cap.
Even if 1 or 2 are just on the 6 month deal as coverage and to see how they go.

Yep, 3 picks in the MSD - crazy considering last week we had only just the 1.

Great...
Just what we need another slow midfielder with poor disposal

That doesn't tackle ! FFS that is the one area we really need to improve .

Yeah, not enamoured on the Gribble link. I feel like Carlton is the club where the press don't bother suppressing a player mentioning they got a call from them, or we call more players than most.

What are the chances of Jacob Edwards being available for us?
Very slim. North look all but certain to take him no.1, and of they don't someone else will snap him up by our first pick which will be ~6 or 7

Work on his kicking & speed...concerning.

We shouldn’t be drafting players that cannot kick the football to a high standard.

Nominated today I think but definitely nominated

Indeed he has.

“Former Adelaide and Richmond small forward Tyson Stengle, who has attracted interest from Collingwood, nominated for the mid-season draft on Monday, as did likely No.1 pick Jacob Edwards and fellow ruckman Ned Moyle.

Ex-Crows midfielder Riley Knight had not yet nominated by Tuesday morning, and neither had former Blues defender Kade Simpson, who had hinted at a mid-year comeback”.

Blake Schenslog, a 199cm KPD, ex Geelong rookie who moved to a WAFL club ithi year looks really impressive. Apparently killing it in WA. Need someone like him to eventually replace Liam Jones.

8. Blake Schlensog
Formerly Geelong listed as a Next-Generation Academy player and Category B rookie, Schlensog was arguably let go too soon. Developing rapidly not only in his time with Geelong, Schlensog has taken meaningful strides in the WAFL this year. Averaging 19 disposals and eight marks per game so far, the 199 centimetre Schlensog is a competitive key defender who not only beats his direct opponent, uses the ball cleanly, displays good mobility but also reads the game well and intercepts to a high level. Outside the AFL, Schlensog may be the best key defender, and with his rate of improvement and well-rounded game, he is hard to go past for a club in need of someone who can contribute now, but also provide a long-term option.

That has to be one of the least appealing draft profiles that I've seen. Slow, poor foot skills and zero scoreboard impact oh, and he is undersized and coming off an acl

Schlensog v Callow?

If he makes it past North, I think it comes down to Gold Coast, then it's straight through to us.

Stengle (subject to massive character assessments) and Newcombe look like good options as well.

Sam Edmund article says we're interested in Geelong Falcons player Noah Gribble.

Missed 2020 with an ACL, played in the young guns game last week.
Why do we want another smallish player with questionable disposal?

Was going to say the same thing (see above) but, having a bit of a persecution complex, I thought I'd be jumped on.

If we are to use the 3 picks lets use them on players who can play in the position that our VFL/AFL team needs, like key position. Good opportunity to bolster our current players in the 2's by playing with proper structure. Will be good for the developing tall's we draft to be playing in what looks like a pretty talented vfl squad.

Could also look at a small/half forward type.

Not being a smart ass, but how do you assess Stengle's character beyond looking at his recent behaviour? It's not worth the risk, we should look elsewhere.
