This whole trade for Tarrant talk I don't get, do we really think we would get less of a compensation pick than Hawks got for Smith? If compensation is a 3rd round pick, like Smith was last year, Richmond isn't going to salvage much of the Chol value and would be in our best interest to see that pick get knock behind our pick 20.

The unknown is whether we have an AFL valuation on his FA compensation.

If it's anything up to the 3rd round then we should be forcing Richmond to provide us with something to balance that. Otherwise there is no incentive for us to not delist Tarrant.

Yeah, wasn't our future 3rd part of the deal?

I think GC was a bit incompetent with this deal, they should have asked the player first before wasting out rime.
Yeah, the article said picks, not pick, and GC didn't even get their player on board.

It is stinks of a rotten deal.

If the reports of our offering a future pick for CCJ are correct that suggests we're only going near 2021 #38 in the trade once the search for another pick inside rounds 1-2 is complete.

These are the current likely incomings vs outgoings we have to make work:

Garner2021 #1

Tyson2021 #20

Atley or Dumont2021 #38

TarrantColeman-Jones

Where we appear to be trying to track:

Garner2021 #1

Tyson2021 #19

Atley2021 #20

DumontMcPherson

TarrantColeman-Jones

Remember the above tables are just net ins/outs not trades.

In that scenario #38 won't be taken to the draft and can be traded. Not necessarily directly for CCJ though.

We may still want to offset it with a future 3rd or 4th if it's with Richmond.

Or we could trade it to another club for a future 2nd rounder or multiple future 3rd rounders.

Assume we stop answering the phone when Richmond calls and CCJ going into PSD and Tarrant via free agency
Garner -> 1
Tyson -> 19
Atley -> 20
Dumont -> DM
Campbell -> CCJ PSD
Tarrant -> FA comp

At this stage the DM/19 deal looks dead in the water.

So much potential. So much sh*t.
Yeah I was thinking that there really isn't much there both clubs would accept other than him..

Oh well, GC17 will just have to get fined by the AFL who will pay the fine

That scenario potentially gives us #38 #39 so one of those would need to be traded out.

Haha, getting in first with the Norf fail to land big fish again...

Not like a Darcy to be standoffish initially and show a bit of pride and prejudice, wonder if we will be as forgiving as Miss Lizzie Bennett later on.

Sounds like he will be prepping for preseason with Southport Sharks this time next year.

Smith was 31y9m old when he went to Geelong last year as a free agent. Tarrant is 32y5m, both on 2 year deals. If the money is a similar bracket the compensation should be the same, which was a 3rd round pick for Hawthorn last year.
