FInally have a chance to get them off the books and you want to re sign them.
They haven't been recontracted for a reason.
Might as well ask dom tyson if he wants a list spot too.
Both of them have contributed a damn sigh more and have a lot more to offer than Tyson.

Id happily sign them to low 1 yr deals unless a better option presents itself, for the reasons I stated above. Show me who there is available to replace those spots.

I get they are not sexy and don’t have “upside” but they hold value from a squad POV

That's like trying to give yourself a nickname

Filthy, who endured three lockdowns, wants to be known as more than 'Filthy the handsome and adequately hung moderator".

I know that it is how negotiations work, but be interesting to know how X feels about the club he's wanting to leave valuing him at future 2nd and the club he wants to get to, who he also sees himself with a future at, is currently valuing him at a nothing pick.

Given the Saints have convinced him to request the trade, surely it is on them to get the deal done? He's contracted and it certainly isn't NM's problem that they have no picks between 9 and 62.

I think he’ll stay and he’ll look back and realise it’s the right move to stay

I am definitely warming to Brander if we can develop him into a proper KPP, but DFA the way to go or PSD?
Ask me this last week and I’d have said no way, however we should get one more kpd after tazs exit. I’m not minding it
I'm open to it as well (by whatever route, it would be cheap however he got here); has he played as the third KPD?

I think he has been used everywhere very early on, but has been left to develop as a tall winger because of his leg speed.

Absolutely it’s on the saints

I'm starting to think we delist all 4.
Otherwise list numbers are very tight.
Lynch comes in and 3 are gone for certain.
What would we fill those spots with?

tell that to the Saints people; they're under the bizarre impression the ball is in our court - as far as I can tell, the only time it came over the net, Brady squashed it with a mallet

players in the national draft?
Picks # 72 and #77, you think that’s really going to provide a meaningful backup in a injury or form slump situation.

All that said I think the Atley and Dumont spots should be taken up by experienced players. If there are better options, I’m happy to move them on

Not a shot at you GSW, but I wish people would stop saying stuff like this. With a list in our position having players like Dumont and Atley still hold value. Both have attracted little interest in FA so the price we might sign them at is unlikely to be high.

the value is we can keep these players as solid, dependable squad members (compared to any available alternatives)if and when injury or form is an issue. It creates competition for spots, and can avoid underdeveloped players being thrown in the deep end.

id sign both .
All good.

I don't rate Atley and don't think he has a place in the side.

Brander may have as we need tall defenders. He may work as a 3rd tall. I'd put Skinner and the tall Geelong delisted last year in the same boat as worth a shot over Atley as tall defenders.

Atley is not a tall defender so I see that but there are circumstances where we could have both.

Why?

Dumont is a midfielder and those inexperienced kids are now getting more experienced.

LDU is entering his 5th year, Simpkin will play his 100th game. They don't need protection. They have Cunnington there for that.

Anderson will struggle to get a game, we don't need an experienced replacement for Dumont.

The backline is experienced enough as it is. Again McKay turnes 24 in a few months, Corr will be back and Hall and Ziebell are both 30+ vets in there. McDonald will be 27 and in his 9th season, he will play his 150th next year.

We just need genuine good young players in each position.
