Where did the trading Sharman crap start FMD , we find a good young talent so then you want to trade him ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Might have been me after a bottle of wine the other night.
But even Dunstall observed that (a) he's too good not to be playing (b) it'll be interesting to see how he fits into a forward line with King, Membrey and RyMar.
Adding King would change 'interesting' to 'bloody tricky'

On the other hand, for a kid with no preseason he's sure been getting up the ground well. Membrey and the Kings do it well too - so there could be some pretty exhausted defenders around or a lot of handovers required to keep tabs on them all.

Another thing is that except for RyMar, all those other guys aren't hopeless when the ball hits the deck either, so maybe we can carry an extra tall, with one more on the bench.

Either way, Battle's going to be depth or surplus to needs if King comes and Sharman keeps developing. Even if he focuses on being a defender, he's going to find it tough with Highmore and Coff hitting their straps back there. Can't keep them all, especially if they're too good for VFL.

Also, I think another team is going to have a similar decision to make, re: trading out talent. The Dogs. Might have been put off a year with Bruce likely to miss most of next season, but a decision might be needed there with Darcy coming in.

Gee I would, imagine having him and Steele. Both tackle heavy, both high production. It would take us from good to very good out of the middle. If he only cost a first it would be a bargain.
We really need some speed and skill in the middle, Steele, crouch and Bytel who I expect will improve his production this year do the hard yards. I heard some chatter ages ago that the bulldogs were fans of Coffield, I’d do a straight swap with a bit of tinkering with late picks. I really want the best young mid we can get and our nga players coming through together. Looking to eventually have a stacked midfield and all the pieces challenging for a flag not just make finals.

You make a lot of valid points , Ryder would only have one more year in him i think and maybe King plays down back if he ever does come to us , I'm not sure he will as I'm not as romantic as a lot of them on here .
The way Sharman is going you just have to play him , maybe we just play a taller forward line ?

I doubt we'd pay a massive price to get a gun key forward that has just kicked almost 50 goals at 20-21 years of age to try him in the back line.
Try him in the backline ,,,,,, He only started playing up forward after Max did his knee , you dont think key backs are worth good coin ,,, Ask Lever and May from Melb , Moore , MCgov , i bet they are all on very good coin

He’s a gun but I think he did his shoulder as well and that‘s been a problem for a lot of players. I think his price will have dropped if he still wants out but he’ll cost a good first rounder. Many won’t agree but I’d pass on him and take our first to the draft. I’d happily do battle and a second rounder but I think the bulldogs would laugh at that.

I'd gladly give our first, future second and Battle for Dunkley. When he's given time in the guts he's a top 10 midfielder.

Yeah, I think so for now. If Bing's happy to play back, that'd be pretty cool too. We wouldn't be caught short back there if he joins Doogs.
Either that, or he could put on some bulk, work on his hitouts and replace Ryder in 23 (Marshall goes to #1 ruck, Bing #2). Can't put Ming in the Ruck, but probably don't need to keep them both in cotton wool. Not like he'd be having to ruck the whole game with Marshall there.

I'm very very romantic in case you can't tell. The Kings together could be a bit of a golden era for the club if they both reach their peaks.
A bit of romance to be had with Sharman's performances though, so all good.

Be a bit like paying through the nose for a elite winger and playing them off half back. We'd never do that lol

I begrudgingly think it was good move though. Freo ended up tagging him and he's had it a couple of times where sides realise he is our rebound. Clarko had worked that out even and had him sat on. Freo actually moved the tag off Steele to put on him...... You don't do that unless there is major carnage happening. I think we lost most of the clearances but kicked an incredibly high score rebounding from defence. Hill was a very large part of that and Sincs obviously the other. Leaves Coff free to intercept.

Interesting to see if they persist with Hill off HB next year. That's a really good point about the tag on Hill, obviously he was causing issues. If he is doing that then maybe we keep him there.

You're right that we need to sort out our clearance work. That's our number one issue.

I'm back on to wanting to hold Coff again. He's back on a really solid trajectory. We probably at some point have to call him or Highmore but you'd probably want a bigger sample size to make sure that you kept the best of them. Coffield has a higher ceiling but behind at the moment.

Steele is about to be a two time AA and does everything Dunkley does just better. You need balance, he’s another ball winning beast but his kicking isn’t great and as good as he is crouch averages more possessions and clearances. I hate the sold your soul to the devil deals. He’d cost plenty and would want big dollars, that’s just picks and money we don’t have for the players we really need.

Maybe not that much but you'd give a first and second. Battle would probably suit them down back though.

Maybe it's familiarity breeds contempt or something but Dunkley looks better than Crouch.

Couple of interesting players OOC at Carlton.

Jack Silvagni, Lachlan Fogarty, Lochie O’Brien, Marc Pittonet, Matthew Kennedy, Michael Gibbons, Nic Newman, Sam Petrevski-Seton and Will Setterfield.

I'd be having a look at Pittonet. Did a fine job before injury this season and likely to play second fiddle to De Koning going forward. 25 years old (same as Membrey).

Would really want any of the rest though you could get something out of SPS if he's played in his best position.

Piggy Dunstall saying he can't see him fitting in with what we have, look at Bris Daniher,McStay,Hipwood all tall,WC Kennedy,Darling,Allan,Waterman as long as you have a complement of smalls it works talking through his ..rse & has never coached or showed interest in it.

In my opinion, how tall we go is 100% dependant on the output of our smalls/resting mids. It's entirely possible to play all of Sharman, Membrey King and Marshall in the same forward line if you have guys like Higgins, Gresham and Butler playing well.

You can have a forward line the size of giraffes and it will work… as long as your mids work hard to stop spread, the forwards Atleast provide a contest that prevents an easy exit and transition

and the most important part. You win the contest down the ground - which is where McGovern is so valuable.
