H-Sun reporting St Kilda has no interest in Luke Parker.

It sounds like we are removing the annoying midfield and going to play a team of forwards.
Its a bit like the NSW and Vic response to Delta, can't beat it just look at an alternative. Saints have been supressing midfielders for years but now just looking for an alternative to them as they can't be stopped.

SAINTS RULE OUT INTREST IN PARKER
St Kilda has ruled itself out of any interest in free agent Luke Parker, who is intent on considering his options given only a two-year offer from the Swans.

Parker won the Sydney best-and-fairest this week and is looking for a four-year deal worth around $700,000 a season.

Sydney has offered only two years at around $500,000-$550,000.

At this stage Gold Coast is considered making a play but Parker turns 29 in October and the Suns are more focussed on key forwards.

Parker would be a strong fit for a club such as St Kilda which believes it is opening up a premiership window.

But the Saints are looking to keep cash for a bid for Ben King next year.

The Saints hoping for seasons from Hunter Clark and Jade Gresham next year to reinvigorate a midfield that dropped out of the top eight for contested possession differential and clearance differential.

St Kilda’s Dan Hannebery is believed to have made a financial sacrifice that could help the club’s cap space given only 15 games in three seasons.

But despite speculation he might have split next year’s money into the 2022-23 seasons, it can be confirmed his guaranteed contract will expire at the end of next year.

It means the Saints have only one more year of a deal that when struck was to be a five-year deal but ended up at four years on over $700,000 with a fifth-year trigger.

Opinions are split on Parker’s worth given he turns 29 before next season.

He is a stoppage beast who can kick 20 goals a season and never misses a game but some list bosses will worry that without pace he could hit a wall at 31 and leave them with a big wage bill in his last seasons.

People seem to get very defensive when you suggest the club may have got something wrong unfortunately.

I only raised his name to discuss Battle to be honest.

When they haven't got it wrong, people get defensive.
Sinclair ahead of Hind and played his role far better than Hind
Hill ahead of Hind
Coffield ahead of Hind
Even Highmore who wsn't even at the club would be ahead of Hind.

Essendon had a need after Saad left. Hind has done well, but this trope that we stuffed up by not overpaying for a Sandy player is a bridge too foar AFAIAC.

So the player that we drafted as a flanker who may be able to make midfield, can now only play as a third rate , short, tall defender.

If that's true, he's a washout, time to cut our losses.

This is what we drafted.
------------------------------
STRENGTHS

  • Athleticism
  • Work in tight spaces/evasiveness
  • Efficiency
  • Versatility
  • Leadership
Coffield tested as one of the fastest players in the draft pool with a sub-three second 20m sprint time. Add to that his sizable vertical leap, 190cm frame and strong hands, and you have a ready-made AFL athlete. The most promising thing about Coffield is that he combines his athletic traits with a high-level football IQ, which has inevitably seen him draw comparisons to Scott Pendlebury.

Like the Collingwood skipper, Coffield provides a cool head amidst the mayhem of stoppages, weaving his way through traffic and turning on dimes. His clearance work has improved out of sight this year and more midfield time has really aided that side of his game. And with one of the most accurate kicks in the TAC Cup this season, Coffield’s efficiency has seen him stand out even more as clubs at the top level try to claim the best ball users.

That's so St Kilda to take "the next Pendles" and chuck him in the backline for 4 seasons.

They said Seb Ross had Pendlebury attributes in his draft profile from memory so I'll take that Coffield comparison with several grains of salt, but if Coff doesn't get a pre-season with the mid-fielders this year or next he will most likely wind up a wasted talent and St Kilda will be to blame.

I'd personally prefer to see more Coff and Clark in the guts this year than Gresh and Billings. We have enough defenders to cover for them with Paton coming back and Sinclair finding his best position down there.

Looking forward to the melts when we recruit a broken Matt Crouch to replace Dunstan :hearteyes::hearteyes:

For God's sake keep up, Bytel is the new Pendles, you are so 2017

These guys have been reading BF again

I feel like you need one of these. I mean we are so bad that we gave the league a quarter of a season headstart and had an injury list the length of a Centrelink queue in Frankston and we still just missed the 8 with arguably the toughest draw.

we legit could just draft kids this off-season and I’ll still be insanely confident of playing finals next year.

Fully agree - Having Marshall - 13, Ryder - 12 , Jones - 13 , Clark -13 , Gresham -3 all missing close to half a season hurt the team and having players in the squad that just broken - Carlisle , Frawley , McKernan , Hannerbery , Geary , Roberton and were meant to at least play some games and we also had Paton out , however the re-emergence Webster covered him.

We also had players who were nowhere near the form they can produce this includes Hill , Butler , Membery , Ross , Billings.
I also think the floggings we got from the Bombers , Dogs , Tigers really effected the confidence of the young guys like King , Coffield , Bytel and Battle.

In saying this we still only missed the 8 by one game , however amongst the pain we also found something to be happy about
- Higgins looks to be a star in the making
- Byrne continuing his development
- Crouch was a good pick up
- Connolly looks like a kid with a future
- Sharman has already shown he is more than up to standard
- Highmore was very impressive
- McKenzie had people in shock
- Webster came back to his best after just about missing 2 years of football.

With fewer injuries and just internal development of players there is no reason we don't play finals and if everything clicks top 4 is not out of the question.

If he can't play HBF , he can't play midfield. He's quick, so on the wing could be a spot he could potentially move to but playing HBF should be an easier role.
Winning contested ball was listed as a weakness and i don't think he's improved that.

I could see Paton in the midfield before Coffield.
