We were great I'm defence when we had the likes of Smart & Hart who couldn't match up on anyone.

Having MM, Worrell & Doedee gives us plenty of flexibility.

This is the Cats model.
Flexibility is a big key here, ensures that we cannot be stretched with a resting ruckman and or if an attack goes small up forward.

TBH while we may have IMO another 2-3 years of rebuilding to occur, we are definitely progressing nicely. A lot better than I thought we would back in 2020.

you mean list wise or performance wise?

Last night we had what was the opposite of that at the Rostrevor graduation dinner, Callum Wilkie of St Kilda (ex Rossie student) was asked if he would like to come back and give a speech and he came over to do it. He gave one of the best speeches in terms of humility and how people should not be defined by set backs and to chase the dream. He was highly touted as a junior and excelled with North Adelaide but injury hindered and he said he was overlooked in 4 different drafts before finally getting a chance as a mature aged player and that came about after taking pressure off himself and getting back to really enjoying his footy.

There were a few aspiring footy players in the audience and plenty of other kids besides that would have heard that and taken a bit from it.
Yeah he spoke well, why didn’t you buy me a drink?

what was telling for a long time and only starting to be corrected now is while all these guys were in our backyard, our recruiting team were heavily focused on two things:
1. vic metro
2. tassie!!
and surprise surprise where did our two recuiters hail from?

seriously not impressed. and for those that say we only have jones from tassie. i'm not referring to only those picked but who they wanted to pick.

there seems to have been no attention to local until nicks arrived

What a load of baloney.
We have had talent scouts in every state of Australia that all report to the head recruiter. Seems you haven't noticed how few really talented SA youngsters have been drafted in recent years. Again this year only one likely to go in the top 10 and only 2 others considered as late 1st round chances.

Lol, c'mon. Is this serious?

Is this the quietest Draft Discussion thread in our history ....4 days out from the Draft ?

For me, it's the best time ....but even I'm a bit ambivalent .....gee, I hope there's some surprises
You don't open up 2 list spots for no reason, it's obvious there's plenty going on in the background if the right opportunity/player can be had.

Imagine if the Saints or even worse, the Roos took him....

I have to admit, I have been keen on snagging a development ruckman with that list spot. But there is something about Jakob Ryan that I'm really starting to come around too. Wouldn't call him a need, but certainly becoming a want!

That might leave an opening for us with the north 2nd if we wanted Barnett to go for their pick 17
This is my dream .....it'll get me tuning in Monday night

SYD's #14, #17 .....GWS #19 .....there are possibilities opening up
