I think he's a little impatient/harsh in his appraisal, but it's not as if we are stacked with elite young midfield talent going forward.
He seems to be very harsh on our list which is still rebuilding as well. No one is arguing about our stuff up of developing McAsey as KPD and Jones as the elite midfielder but our list has taken a big leap in the last 2 drafts and this year bringing in Rankine.

Soligo looks a real talent.. Taylor hasn’t played a game yet but geez his late sanfl form once he got over his injuries looked bloody exciting..

And I reacon Rachele will end up a gun midfielder..

I agree. I throw Shoenberg in there as well, but until proven, they are speculative potential and we have to address this need via shotgun(GrommoT) as we haven't many realistic alternatives to work with. Old mate is complaining that we are already stacked in this area and that we should be targeting talls.

Yeah I see his point to a degree though. Would be nice to land a couple of high end young mids in the draft one day.

Who was our last?

So

Out: Rowe, Frampton, Brown, Davis
In: Rankine, Michalanney, Dowling, Bond
Good summary Scorpus.

Rankine is a big upgrade on Rowe.
Michalanney is our next generation Ben Hart/Rocket Maynard
Dowling is a ball magnet and 188cm midfielder, feed the lad some protein bars and 2 preseasons and he'll be a likely type.
Bond already has the lungs to be a good lockdown defender, we need mid-sized backline/back-flanks to replace Brown & Laird and compliment the tall timber.

All up I'm happy with who we picked. All inbound players seem to have one common characteristic and that is work ethic and tackle pressure. A good hand of selections available for 2023.

So is anyone going to allay my fears that we've reverted back to recruiting players that can't hit the side of a barn by foot?

Not all high end young mids becomes gun or even decent players, look at Patrick Dow.

Yeah mate I know. I've used this exact same argument a couple of times in the past fortnight when people have appraised our list. Seemingly based on not much more than where the players were drafted.
