Yep, agree here - plenty of value in midfielders elsewhere in the draft
Sloane was Pick #44
Dangerfield Pick #10
Scott Thompson was traded for pick #12
Kane Johnson pick #27
Ricciuto was a zone selection
McLeod was a trade with Fremantle, we gave up Chris Groom.

As a side note, Chris Groom is an amazing story, in his 1 year 1995 with Fremantle he kicked 18 goals in 7 games (but was dropped 4 times) and kicked another 70 goals in 14 games for West Perth, including 5 goals in the WAFL Grand Final win over Subiaco, and at the end of the season was DELISTED! :O unbelievable
Wow had no idea Groom was that dominant in the WAFL. Thought his back went on him

What I like is that Dowling looks like he could be a good player and has excelled at his age level as an attacking bigger bodied mid. I don't know anything about Bond other than what I read here tonight but maybe he can become Berry mk 2 and that would be a great get. Michalanney is a great get and I think will have a long career ahead of him at AFL level

We also were able to wheel and deal to get Dowling and Bond without hurting in any meaningful way or draft hand next year which looks strong in a strong draft. Our noisy neighbours down the road have niente next year without trading out quality to get it - bad luck

I would have liked us to take Verrall as he has the tools to be a quality developing tall and we could do with more quality talls but overall, Rankine, Michalanney, Dowling and Bond are exciting in's for us and onto next year

Only Sloane and Johnson are relevant to your point.

bond is a shocking pick we just didnt need him

Bond is just not needed really question Hamish

constantly looks for the bargain rather than the need

It's what he's good at though.
McAsey was need wasn't he?

I'd really rather he stick we low end bargains and we bring in someone else to handle our premo/need picks.

Mate, you'd never heard of the guy before tonight. You don't HAVE to have an opinion.

I have no idea about the guy, and I wanted at least one tall coming into the draft. But I also think we need a good genuine small defender, so I'll wait and see.

Would have been nice to have been able to get 1-2 of Crouch/McAsey/Seedsman/McPherson off the list (no malice intended, but we needed the list spots) and be able to have picked up a project tall.

This may still happen over the summer - do we have to wait for a retirement/LTI before inviting players to train on with us?

Future midfield: soligo, berry, taylor.

I'm not sold on pedlar.

We'll see how the new draftees go.

Must get a mid with our first pick next year.

I mean Turner is already training with us still, so I guess not?

Poor bloke. Really looks like we only drafted him to help our SANFL finals campaign (noting Crouch and Hately were never going to be eligible).

Excuse the interruption, from your boards perspective, why do you think the club decided not to nominate Isaac Keeler?

Was it only because they thought he would go earlier than 40 or are there other reasons (attitude, fitness, behavioral etc)? On the surface he looks like a very talented player.

Thanks, oh and you can't have Phillipou :p
