Is Harry Barnett in this years draft?? Who is better in your eyes out of Varrell and Barnett? Surely we take one ruckman in this draft or rookie draft

Coming into the year Verrall would have been rated above Barnett with me but Verrall had a limited preseason with groin issues and had a late start to the season and several interruptions since. The last few weeks in the SANFL he's really started to get up to full rat power hence he''s been brought in for the final Championships game.

Barnett probably goes late 1st early 2nd whereas Verrall could get right throughto the rookie draft or may even go undrafted unless he lights it up on the weekend and for the Panthers in the final few SANFL games.

I guess what we'd likely have to put up I'd probably go for Verrall who has amazing athleticism and plays like a mid once the ball hits the deck.

I wish we would take a higher rated ruckman in the draft than get the dregs in the rookie draft again
It's not dregs when they're 18 year old ruck prospects...it's when we go mature agers from the state or minor leagues. Strachan came from the Bendigo League after playing a few games for the Bombers in the VFL and before that the now defunct VFL's development league basically the equiveant of the SANFL reserves.

Will Verral or Toby Murray (Nick's brother) would be two good options as rookies/late picks.

But surely the good ones that show potential don't last until the rookie draft
Just once in 15 years, can we try and draft a more talented ruckman.
Was Rhett Biglands the last ruckman we used a draft pick on ?

I definitely wouldn’t take Barnett with our 2nd pick but it only takes one club I guess

Agree with you, some of the best rucks come from the rookie list and nearly all rucks need 5 years in the system when they’re taken at 18 yo

Thoughts on Broadbent from WA?

That's a bit of a stretch Jeff, because it is not even close to being true
McInerney the only one that is a good ruckman that came from the rookie draft
Draper and O'Brien also rookies but I wouldn't class those as good ruckman

The afl world has changed, we need a ruckman that is athletic. Most are now and are good runners. I have seen Barnett once only and never seen Verrall. We should pick up at least one of these guys and develop them to come is soon because Rob is slow and lacks quality in disposal, we need a big upgrade even if it takes a few years before we see them

Draper is good

None of these rucks in this draft are going to be plug and play or are obvious stars IMO so I don’t see that we should be using good draft capital for them

If it was Brodie Grundy in his draft year coming thru I’d have different opinion

I actually don’t mind foster as a rookie who might be able to play forward /2nd ruck with TT in the future

I think he’s 197cm at moment so ideally grows a touch more
Can't sell you Toby Murray as a Ruck/Forward can I?
November birthday, not 19 yet
