We just have to get this guy phillipou looks something special but got funny feeling west coast may want too
what do we think ? We need another first rounder for Ollie holland then midfield footings in place
I reckon our 2nd rounder can nail a good midfielder or mid / forward

I wouldn’t be using next years draft capital as top end next year looks promising

I've seen him compared to Jack Graham who they said the same about and I think that's spot on...looking at his weaknesses instead of the many things he he does well.
If we had a third pick before Max and we'd already grabbed a inside-outside mid and a tall, then it makes sense. I think he's a definite AFL quality footballer.

Most clubs were happy with anything before 20 is fair game, no idea why they pushed it back to 40 as it basically makes academies a waste of time an effort because if you develop them correctly another club is the beneficiary and you only keep them if they're considered super raw and not worth a too 40 pick.
I think it also needs to be something that can help sides who are rebuilding - perhaps you can claim a player if you're not a finalist in their draft year.

We're facing increasingly long periods for sides who begin rebuilds - there's just not enough ability to improve your list quickly.

Bullshit. You just need to draft well, which we haven’t and you’ve got to be a club players want to go to

Gonna watch the dragons play on Saturday because it’s literally down the road, will post if I see anything good ;)
Should be a ripper game, you will see plenty of the top end and later draftable talent.

Main ones I'll be focussing on.

Dragons
#2 Charlie Clarke
#3 Will Ashcroft
#15 Ben Hempel
#16 Harry Sheezel

Falcons
#5 Jhye Clark
#9 Ted Clohesy
#21 Will Parkhouse
#53 Oliver Northam

He is averaging 18 hit outs per game this year.
Very average for a ruckman
Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact the Saints play 2 ruckmen whenever Ryder's fit would it?

Marshall is a very good ruck and very good around the ground as well.

My point was that the club haven't spent a good draft pick on a ruckman for 20 years.
Yes, some clubs may get lucky getting a ruckman off the rookie list but you rarely get a good one.
It probably depends on how important you think a ruckman is to your team

I think you need a lot more than that. Drafting well is a minimum, but that doesn’t get you far on its own

When teams just get players like Daicos, Darcy, Green, JUH etc just dumped in their laps then you need a lot more than you just hit & hope from the draft

Then lets keep our collective fingers crossed young Welsh comes on in leaps and bounds to be the pick 1 in 2 years time and we get him as a father son. Mind you, I could see the AFL working this one out sometime next year when the writing is on the wall, should Welsh be projecting as such, just in time for them to gut the father son rule so we become the first side to not get exclusive rights to a top rated F/S kid

Would love for us to be proactive and start having some Crows mouthpieces in the media lobbying for a Priority pick for us if North gets one, even if they awarded us the ability to match a Keeler bid anywhere that would be a huge win.
We would have politely asked already, been told no, and thanked them for their time.

Yep kind of agree that at some point it’s worth drafting one early if they are an elite talent - can’t see any elite ruck talents in this draft though

I’m also of the opinion that Thilthorpe is going to be an elite ruck even though he will spend large minutes forward as well

TT looks like an early career Brad Ottens to me.

Started as a forward with moderate success but eventually became an excellent rucking forward.

Geelong had their celebrated stars through their golden age but Ottens was their MVP. IMO.

I'd be delighted if TT had a similar career.

Don't see any of them available at our pick, but I'd be happy with whomever west coast left of Wardlaw or Tsatas (or Ashcroft).

Hewitt needs to pick his game up to tempt west coast . . .
If we maintain pick 3 (4 after ashcroft bid), it has to be one of tsatsas, wardlaw or phillipou if we go local. Any of those guys are going to improve us. Then there are guys like hewett, clark, sheezel, busslinger, cadman so by the looks of things the first 7 -10 picks all look to be quality (meaning port are likely to get a goodun...said through gritted teeth)
