He has been critical - but not petulant in the past. “He’s a dud” etc is far past where he has previously gone. Also his statement about the treatment of James “but I am not going to use my platform” comments

James delisting - and the manner in which it was done - has sent him over the edge. No longer moderately objective - just bitter

What exactly was wrong with the way it was done? Took him through the trade period to try to get a deal, then delisted. The kid got 30 AFL games from a club he supported all his life, and no other club has picked him up even though they can do it for nothing. Why's he upset at AFC for giving him a go, but he's not upset at the 17 other clubs for not picking him?

So have I but it will depend if we can find a buyer at fair value, no mention of a deal being already nutted out though.....2 SA players involved as well as Michalanney who is a lock apparently....only one of the two though due to list space, 1st player can't be had, move on to the 2nd.

So i'm thinking we've got a contingency plan whereby we have a club keen to trade out their pick if a particular player is gone, and the one we're interested in (surely Phillipou) slides.

Perhaps we also have a plan to trade that Kangas 2nd and bring it into this draft if the 1st option doesn't eventuate.

That would be some pretty epic planning if we have suitors lined up already and it's just a matter of seeing where players fall....

Is there a nice way to delist a player?

I think it plays out purely on draft night depending on the players being available at the point where we are keen to do business. Obviously with option 2 our 2023 2nd rounders would come into play, with option 1 a downgrade of our 2023 1st that would slip back a few spots might be on the cards.

Why wouldn't they want a top five pick next year?

Assuming they are willing to trade down for points, they'd get fantastic offers for it.

I would have thought have thought the fact they just threw away pick 7 for pennies on the dollar shows how little they valued this year's draft?
It’s not a guaranteed top 5 pick for starters

It could be pick 10 , no one knows

They were happier to throw away pick 7 knowing they were getting pick 5

If they didn’t want to be in this years draft they would have traded out pick 5 by now

I don’t think he was poorly treated at all. I think Rowe is an absolute tool even when he is saying positive things about us. But clearly his comments when James delisting came through indicated he was angry at how it was done - using classic passive aggressive language to get his point across

Perhaps we made promises that we were then unable to commit to because no one wanted any of our contracted players?

Crows don’t have much interest in Keeler

His draft position will be fascinating all the same

I would love it to be Phillipou but I just feel we are not into him. Hopefully completely wrong

My tip is Ryan in the mid 20’s. Not sure it’s who we need but the club often surprise me

Crows like Phillipou …. Just not as much as Rankine clearly

Doubt we will get a trade done but rumours around he’s been interviewed lately

Ryan … which one ? Jakob ? Doubt it with Michaelanny similar type

Jakob - but happy to hear your info. Would like Phillipou if at all possible

And yes I agree Jakob not screaming out as a need

Given by all reports next years draft is stronger than this years

And most would expect us to finish in a similar spot next year as this

Then our future first is worth more than what we gave up for Rankine

If we really want Phillipou then we can easily get him by offering our future first to clubs selecting in the first round.

31. Adelaide (matching Carlton's bid) - Max Michalanney (Adelaide F/S) - Norwood (SA)
The son of Jim, Max Michanney is eligible to join Adelaide as a father-son selection due to his father playing more than 200 games for SANFL club Norwood. An athletic defender, Michalanney plays a negating style and is effective shutting down forwards of various heights and types.

It's a hit and miss business, our paid experts draft Gallucci, Fischer and Jones, yet hit Soligo??

I'm just hoping old mate is wrong, just because he played quietly Norwood's finals doesn't mean that's his natural game.

I'm pretty sure he didn't see much apart from those two games to form the opinion he's just a lock down defender, Michaelanny hit about 14 disposals a couple of times in the reserves and 24 at under 18s level.

I get the sense nobody rates Dorre anyway!!

I prefer Rowe also over McHenry and Murphy. But at this stage 17 other list managers haven’t jumped on him - still may after the draft.

Either way though suggests cutting him isn’t a poor decision

At risk of opening up the can of worms. 17 teams other teams didn't pick Tyson Stengle in the midseason draft either.

Sure was.

Apparently Collingwood were very close to grabbing him mid-season of 2021.
Yeah missed him by that much...

OR attempt to get Dusty Martin when he was clearly available some years back ......

Look at the role Michaelanny was playing, under coach's instructions ......but look at the attributes more, tall, quick, can play on talls & smalls ....and with an obvious footy IQ

Some are so one dimensional in their views .......Dangerfield played HBF in the Championship .....was he a HBF .....did he ever play HBF at AFL level 🤔
