Wouldn't mind seeing him tried as a wingman. We haven't had a wingman with that sort of zip in a long time.

I would personally move Hamil to the wing as well for his own safety. The backline is way too dangerous for him now.
he’s been playing wing in the sanfl for about the last 4 games..

but he doesnt hit the scoreboard anywhere near as much as a wingman than he does as a small forward.. just always looks dangerous with ball in hand around the goals..

he’s also been dealing with a hard tag in a couple of his recent games.. especially the one against the tigers..

Sam Weideman? Why? He is like Fogarty from 3 months ago without the breakout!
when Gawn was out a few weeks back Sam Weideman came into the AFL side and rucked..

maybe we’re worried that Himm is gonna go to Freo, Frampton to Pies and that Strawnie might also be offered something to go elsewhere for more AFL opportunities..

leaving us down a back up ruck, a back up KPF and a back up KPD..

and weideman can do all three..

Can he do any of them well?

Well the versatility is a good thing

He's a better forward than Himmelberg and Frampton combined.

Ruckwork is pretty average, not a position you'd want him to play outside a chop out.

Never seen him play defense but I imagine he'd be average there.

He's probably a backup option for us, but a better backup than what we have

To play which position? KPD?
I dont know.. all I know is Volbeat said last week he’d heard its all but done that Frampton will be at the pies next year.. Pies want him and Crows happy to let him go.

and Volbeat gets pretty solid intel..

I like Doedee and he is super courageous and a good player. Having said that I don’t believe he can play the 3rd tall intercept defender role as well as Worrell.

The Carlton game was a great example - Doedee would have been completely outsized when matched up against DeKonig and McKay whereas Worrell had the height size and athleticism to hold his own.

So Doedee could become the 4th defender or he could be one of very few valuable trade chips we have left. If it meant getting JHF or another “elite” mid then I would be surprised if the club didn’t consider it.

Exactly. I'd be fine with trading Doedee if it helped get JHF or Rankine.

Keays and O'Brien would be the other two at the top of their trade value/I'd be willing to trade for the pursuit of JHF or Rankine.

Weideman makes sense if Frampton and Himmelburg are leaving.
Plus we really are looking for someone to replace Tex when he retires.
McAsey ain't it.
And Thilthorpe might be best suited being our number one ruck.
Tyler Welsh won't be AFL ready (all things going well caveat) until 2026 at the earliest.

That is an opinion cut from the same cloth that lead to us ****ing Fogarty around for five years.

The dude is a CHF and has the potential to be generational one at that. It's just a case of sucking fat for a couple of years and let Rahilly work his magic.

Either as a delisted free agent or a back end pick in the 50's - 60's. I hope the club gets that pick though for matching any bids on Michalanney

I also reckon it’s why Newchurch isn’t contracted. With Rachelle and Rankine, Murphy and McHenry contracted, it is difficult to see a spot for Newchurch.
I would really have liked to see Newchurch at AFL level as I reckon he has plenty of talent and he could make a real impact. If we don’t contract him I hope he gets a shot at another club.
I think we all love the concept of Newchurch. His highlights of absolutely blistering speed are intoxicating.

So it makes you question what’s the issue? Purely footy related or other? If footy related is he a one trick pony with speed and little else? Look at the best small forwards and you see mercurial goal kicking, decision making and score involvements and importantly defensive minded play.

What does Newchurch actually offer, if anything, besides elite speed?

The question that needs to be asked is how much better than Himmelberg is Weidemann because he will cost a fair bit more

Agree re Thilthorpe
