I was right during the Teague era which was the context of my assertion. Players like Plowman, Boyd, Newnes even Obrien, will struggle in September.

They are the equivalent of Athorn and Powell in 1993
LOB racing down the wings with the freshly cut grass, lace out to Charlie and or Harry. I think he will excel!

LOB, Carroll.

Happy for Newnes to stay in the starting 22 if Hewett doesn't get up.
Not sure Carroll will be able to spend too much time out on a wing though, probably more of a pinch-hitter/rotation at the moment. Only played the 68% with a fair bit of forward rotation and looked to be cramping up with a fair bit of time left on the clock.

I think of we’re dropping a wing to only have the one specialist, then it’s going to involve several players taking up the slack, rather than having a Newnes/O’Brien/Cottrell/Setterfield there who have decent tanks.

He doesn't need to spend the whole game out on the wing.

Happy with LOB, Carroll, Walsh, Newnes, Doc/Williams as options to rotate through.

I've got a good feeling about this week.
1. Young gets off and is getting better by the week
2. Tonight my tennis team won the Grand Final in section 2 of the Lilydale night Comp :thumbsu:
3. Going to the game on Sunday to see the Blues smash Adelaide.
I am feeling very confident about Sunday,
Harry & Charlie love it at Marvel, will kick 8 goals between them. Cripps and the 3 muskateers (Walsh, Cerra & Kennedy) will slice up the midfield.
TDK has embraced the responsibility of being No 1 Ruckman. He is growing in strength and confidence by the week.
Very happy with our defenders (Saad, Weiters, Doc & Young) The others can play their roles.
Jsos carries the passion of Carlton. Carrol is part of the future.
I see us going strength to strength.
I LOVE YOU BLUES :D

After Saturday's game it was really clear to me that Plow has been thinking hard about life after football. It is rumoured that he has already signed as an ambassador for Cadbury - he sold that much candy against North.

But seriously, we need to drop Plow in order to win a final? Spare me
what rubbish ; PLOW played very well, and his application, concentration and willingness to do his job is right on Point... EG; Look at him react on the mark in the third quarter to smother the ball from the North Melbourne kick at goal... The fact that he reacted so quickly to the play-on call from the umpire is indicative of his extra application... And th 1% is that he inevitably gives to the team
I think his rebound is just improving aswell with time in the first 22 and has gained more confidence

Plowman can take the more dangerous smaller forwards. I remember we got towelled up by Heeney, L.Ryan, and Greene last year consecutively when he was out. (Just checked stats - 11 goals between them).

I've never been a massive fan of him tbh - but let's be honest our smaller defenders are very attacking. Docherty, Newman, Saad, Williams.

I think McGovern takes his position if we're fully fit though.

So if that is the strategy Plow is likely to play around eight games out of ten given McGov's injury history. ;)

Can everyone get off the Plowman Pile-On.
He was actually pretty good, and is great depth player for the team.
McGovern is a different type. And that's WHEN! he plays.
Really hoping Carrol can back up another solid performance, and be part of our best 22.
I think he's got some special qualities. great to have the No 16. Jimmy Buckley was one of my faves (Tough & quick).
Really looking forward to this game.

Plowman was so good on the weekend. Don’t get why people want him dropped. He played his position and role very well and oozed confidence with a bit of candy. Was great viewing.

Surely he’s had a wake up call being dropped and that’s enough of that.

No change for mine, unless Hewett is ok then him in. No idea of outs.

I think that might be the key here.

Nothing wrong, and plenty right, with having 5-10 players who play around half the season, and know that they're always being closely scrutinised by the selectors. Give Plow a run of games, if he starts to lose the intensity then drop him and give Willo a run instead. Hopefully Willo is hungry to hold the spot and plays to a high level. If he drops off, Plow is waiting to come back in, hopefully with fresh legs and a point to prove.

Rinse. Repeat.

Richmond did it for years with their small forwards, and I reckon it was probably a major factor in their ability to execute that high pressure gameplan over multiple seasons.
