* board seemed to rate Brand. He's a young KPD who got squeezed out of * because they're addicted to drafting talls. I said this at the time but their 2020 draft was silly. They took Reid and Cox top 10 and then went on to add Eyre and Brand as NGAs later in the draft and grabbed Baldwin in the following SSP. Brand got squeezed out with Cox, Reid, Eyre, BZT, Laverde and Stewart all KPD options for the scum.

Something off about the whole Poulter situation. Buyer beware.

I think he’ll have a few options from a few teams. I know there’s at least 2 teams who looked at him during the season. I think he’s better than Eyre tbh, but sometimes that’s just the nature of the business.

He has 2 years of development and still has some room for improvement but probably better than most guys you’d draft at key defence this year tbh, not many other options. Would like to see how he goes up forward as well.

No thanks to Brand. Poor man's Josh Walker

Thoughts on Alec Waterman? Very similar to CZ. His old man was a scrapper for WC in the 90's and this kid has worked hard for his shot. Doesn't have cool tote bags though.

He’s way too slow. Runs around like he has concrete in his boots, plus his vertical leap suffers because of it. He also provides absolutely zero forward pressure.

His brother is 10x the player he is

Noticing Gaz (Lyon) is a lot more positive about North and our list now that Viney is on board, anyone else getting that vibe?
Probably likes his wife

I'm still processing the Corn's commentary around how could they play a magic round or whatever in Sydney over Adelaide.

He stated if North played Freo (Syd) there would be 1.5 people in attendance. I am assuming the one person is the half persons carer.

oh well

I think the .5 was himself.

1.5 more people than if Port played Freo.

Naming the good players and ignoring the fails......
Goldy was pick 37. Should we try and get pick 37 every year?
Those figures for AA and 200+ gamers up to pick 20... that's a big part (not the only) of the reason we never got there with Brad IMO. We essentially had zero picks in this range for most of a decade. Many of the picks we did have in this range were fake (ie. pre listings by GC/GWS meant they were actually much lower rated players).

Someone will pick him up and will be fantastic for them.

Optimistic given he's just been delisted from the bottom team of the last 2 years. Best of luck to him, seems a great clubman.

Goldys got another 2-3 yrs in him

Goldy like Boomer but key position. For mine 1 year contracts happily until he drops off. At his age you never know, could be next year in 4 years or one unlucky injury but his 2022 was his best year in at least 3-4 once moved out of the forward pocket.

Not sure where is the relevant place to post this, but thought this interview was really good about the club this year & where it's at.

Sounds like Walker was one of the few that we might rookie.

I watched this, thought it was good but they could have chosen a more diverse range of questions. It seemed like they had to answer the same question, just asked slightly differently, more than a couple of times.

You're never going to get proper insight into stuff like this as they are never going to disclose who we plan to draft and take as a DFA. So it's all generic.

Wasn't talking about getting proper insight and nor was I expecting anything other than generic answers.

As per my original post I was saying they seemed to answer the same question just asked slightly differently more than once.

Probably because everyone asks the same 5-6 questions

Gun. Here is my summary on him:

22. Billy Dowling 01/07/04 – North Adelaide – 187cm Midfielder - Putting up stupid numbers in the SANFL U 18's, averaging nearly 32 disposals and 1.5 goals per game. Also had a consistent champs where he was arguably SA's most consistent mid. Hard worker who impacts the contest with physicality. Has a mature body and isn't afraid to put it on the line. Works hard both ways and is often seen in D50 while playing in the midfield. His ability to accumulate is up there with the best in the draft and I feel he is underrated because he lacks a point of difference athletically. His ability to find the footy highlights his high footy IQ.

To be fair the 2021 version was entertaining mainly because Luff and Brady were both bristling at questions querying their competence and bit a couple of times.

Agree, it got a bit repetitive.

That said, I was encouraged by Viney's enthusiasm when he talked about supporting our young talent with a good development program. And that they were close to signing some development coaches (watch this space). Confident that Clarkson and Viney know what a good development program looks like and the types who'll be able to deliver it.

Yes Viney was very relaxed and confident, he knows there's work to be done and knows how to do it. Intrigued to see who the development coaches will be. In an ideal world we've already got them sorted and they start on November 1st with Clarko.
