In a dream world, this is what I would try and get done

Current Pick =9
Trade NWM for pick 8 from port (would have to give up future 3rd maybe even future 2nd to get it done)
Trade Hill to NM for pick 19 and pay 200k, maybe even 300k salary for 2 years to get it done
Trade 2nd this year plus future 2nd to BL for pick 15

Giving pick 8,9, 15 and 19

pick 15 and 19 is equal in points to pick 4

Try and trade those picks to Adelaide maybe? plus future 4th for pick 5

Go to the draft with pick 5,8,9

Try get Amon to replace Hill on 550k-600k
Degoey On 800-900k to get the deal done

I’d want port’s 1st round pick plus a player for NWM

Would anyone be opposed to moving on Gresham?

Still think his best spot is as a small forward who pushes through the middle, not a midfielder who rests forward. His first two seasons he was ridiculously dangerous for us.

Having him forward over Butler would be a significant upgrade, but we seem determined to play him in the middle but his field kicking is awful

Yes, I would be. Everyone keeps chatting about De Goey and how big it would be to get him in. De Goey is basically Gresham with off field issues, maybe a slightly higher ceiling in the middle but also less consistent.

No to trading Gresh.

Gresh is a free agent next year. So if we are gonna trade him it’s gotta be this year

I'll spew if I see someone else say we should get Amon.

Outside winger/Half back flanker that doesn't even get it 25 times a game and is a terrible set shot at goal is literally Jack Billings 2.0 and everyone on here want's Billings gone.

The problem with always trying to bring in outside talent over growing your own through the draft is that you always have to overpay to get them in. When you do that time and time again you end up withs significantly less cap space than teams who grow their own talent. Plus the talent you pick at the draft end up wanting bigger contracts based on comparison from those that we bring in.

The only players we should be looking to bring in from other clubs are those on the fringes of their current clubs who can fill a void in our current list. (Like Jack Steele) These players wont cost significant draft capital or demand big cheques. Otherwise go to the draft and focus on building our list ourselves.

Gresham would be 10x a better player if he gave off the handball out the back to the teammate facing forward & can see the options, instead of running his 5 paces sideways, burning said teammates & box-kicking over his shoulder without looking…

He does it 10 times a game & its ****ing atrocious

I hope we go hard for Amon but only for 3 years!

Could we use NWM to upgrade pick 9? And get access to a higher pick than we otherwise wouldn't have had access too?

Then maybe package hill up for another higher pick somehow

We need to use our pick and get another. Don't like putting 2 into 1.

Yep I can only assume the club see something we can't, but on face value seems like a really speculative extension. They have played him everywhere in the VFL with absolutely no indication he is even up to that standard. Harsh on a kid learning the game but list spots are gold and it is almost certain we will delist better players than him this year. I can only assume he has an athletic profile they think is worth persisting with but hard to tell that from watching games as he is hardly ever on screen. Must have a great manager.
I can understand extending a talented player early but they have to actually show something, like a Mitch owens or windhager, some promising signs at senior level.

He’s showed exactly nothing.

25 per game is actually very good for his type. He has the 41st highest disposal count in the comp. Most that have more are true ball winning mids. He's sort of half Brad Hill half Seb Ross in the way that he plays. Accumulation has never been an issue, he's a bit outside and probably could score more but his numbers aren't the issue.

25th in Dreamteam scores, 53rd in Supercoach scores this year. He's a very good player for his type, just not sure he's the right fit for us. We don't win our own ball and ignore runners preferring to hit stationary targets.

Needs Lenny to sort the mids then. That's coaching. He's the closest thing to a midfield star that we have.

So what’s acceptable for Hill if he goes?
He’s still under contract so I wouldn’t take anything under pick 20.
Don't think he is worth much personally. He is overpaid, getting gold, and had not played consistently good footy since his Freo days.

Happy to ship both him and Billings off for very little. Throw a truckload at Degoey, at least he is a potential game winner. We have literally none on the list.

Going to be interesting to see what our average age is next year with the likes of Ryder, Geary, Hannebery, Kent, and most likely Campbell and potentially Hill gone, leaving only Ross and Webster as over 30 next year.
Current list age average is about 25.1. Without the retirees it's about 24.4. Goes up by the start of next year but draftees would bring it down as well.

Edit: I reckon we will be comparable with Carlton's list age next year

Billy Frampton will go down as one of the biggest list management mistakes when we let him go at the end of this season for basically nothing.

Go have a look at his numbers in the SANFL.

Plays as a hybrid KPD that intercepts and gets the ball going forward, racking up metres gained like a HB. Is currently doing things you don’t normally see a 202cm player do. Also chops out adequately in the ruck

Some of his 1-1 work is poor but he’s only just switched to defence this year.

We seem to want to play two very dour spoiling defenders in Butts and Murray, who won’t take a mark to save their life

I haven't looked at his SANFL numbers, his AFL numbers for his games this year are ridiculous for a 202 cm tall defender.

I suppose the question must be - is he just a taller but even less defensive Jarryd Lienert?

It has to be remembered Gresham has just had 2 seasons where he has been injured and this season was the first time he was really given the task as a full time midfielder and the talk prior to his injuries was he had to build his tank and fitness to be able to play in the midfield.
After coming back from a Achilles injury which can end a career , came back in the best conditions he has ever been in and showed he can play as a very good midfielder going by his stats.
Season Highlights
29 disps (13 kicks 16 hballs) in Rd 16 15-pt win over Carlton at Marvel Stadium (1 Jul 2022)
28 disps (15 kicks 13 hballs), 6 marks, 4 tackles and 3 goals in Rd 14 35-pt loss to Essendon at Marvel Stadium (17 Jun 2022)
30 disps (18 kicks 12 hballs), 3 marks, 4 tackles and 2 goals in Rd 11 53-pt win over North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium (29 May 2022)
30 disps (12 kicks 18 hballs) and 6 tackles in Rd 9 10-pt win over Geelong at Marvel Stadium (14 May 2022)
22 disps (16 kicks 6 hballs) and 4 marks in Rd 7 1-pt loss to Port Adelaide at Cazaly's Stadium (30 Apr 2022)

20 disps (13 kicks 7 hballs), 3 marks and 4 goals in Rd 4 69-pt win over Hawthorn at the MCG (10 Apr 2022)
32 disps (16 kicks 16 hballs) in Rd 3 33-pt win over Richmond at Marvel Stadium (3 Apr 2022)
25 disps (16 kicks 9 hballs) and 3 marks in Rd 2 10-pt win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium (27 Mar 2022)
24 disps (14 kicks 10 hballs), 6 marks and 2 goals in Rd 1 17-pt loss to Collingwood at Marvel Stadium (18 Mar 2022)
Knowing this was really his first season he has spent most of the time as a midfielder he will only get better , he went missing in the last part of the season like many others , but like King as strength and conditioning get better I fully expect they will overcome the mid season fade out.

Gresham will always be a dangerous small forward and having severaval players rotating through the midfield is going to stretch opposition teams.

Having Higgins who I feel is one of the most dangerous small forwards playing , with Owens and Gresham we have class in the forward line - add on DeGoey and it looks as potent as any forward line knowing we have King coming along fine and the inclusion of Jack Hayes into the lineup is going to worry many clubs and I'm not even mentioning Membery or Sharman.

Goldstein & their end of 1st Rd priority pick (that they’ll definitely receive)
Of course they’ll get it…AFL probably promised it to Clarko a few weeks back.
