Steadier, You have left out Coffield. Who showed signs last year of being a very good defender.
We need defenders that can actually run and rebound the ball. currently only Sinclair does it regularly.. we need Wilkie, Paton, Coffield all join in and make it their mission to rebound the ball to midfield, rather than just to defend and kick it blindly when under pressure.. Plus if we have mids pushing back to help out with transition, our ball movement will be a lot better..

Sometimes it only needs a simple one, two.. an overlapping defender running past to move the ball easily and quickly upfield, currently we take the simple kick to the back pocket, then run out of ideas before long bomb to halfback/wing… rinse & repeat.. shows a complete lack of planning and coaching..

If Port want NWM and hes already checked out, do it now. Why waste another year with him on the list, if you don’t want to be here, fk off. He’s contracted, pick 8 is a MUST. Take picks 8 and 9 to the draft and along with windy and Mitch build around them for success in 4 years when king is in him prime, no more short cuts
Getting Georgiades back wouldnt be a bad result

I'd back wilkie in to play on the oppositions mid sized/smaller fwd every week.

As in:

FB: Trade in a marcus adams lockdown type.

CHB: Doogs

3rd tall: Battle

Then wilkie takes the midsize fwd ie neale bullen, rohan, degoey, dusty types.

Then webster and paton take the oppositions best 2 small fwds.

(Sinclair to fulltime midfield)

Battle, wilkie and doogs (off chb) have decent enough run and carry and footskills to have us rebounding well off halfback.
Having one guy being the designated kicker off half back (sinclair or hill) is way too easy to stop via a tag.

We have 4 guys in doogs, wilkie, webster and battle who can all share the job sinclair has been doing this year off hb while still defending their opponents.

Edit- as for coffield- make him a mid or trade bait.
I think the chances of Coff becoming a mid are next to none.

And I don't think his value could get any lower than what it is now so I don't see any point in trading him.

I hate spending high picks on tall defenders. I'd rather go for mids, they come on quicker and we probably have a few years to make hay before the older crew drop away. I'd look at Frampton and Ethan Phillips types if we want to get a big bodied lump defender in. The backs we have aren't bad but more lacking a gorilla minder. Once Hawk retires there won't be many big bodied bull forwards left. Most of the others are more Max King, Joe Daniher tall, athletic types who burn them on the lead and out reach the shorter guys.
I wonder what it would take to get kosi out of hawthorn. Was a key defender at u/18 level, has shown a bit as a forward but still isn’t an automatic pick as lewis seems the preferred choice. He’s young and versatile I’d be asking the question on him and a few others around the traps.

As a replacement for Joyce, Frampton looks like exactly what we need as a defender.
200cm and can mark the footy
Should be able to get him for chips being out of contract.

Yeah, if you’ve only watched Giants games this year. Bloke has checked out & been injured. Average players don’t win B&Fs in a year when their team makes the Grand Final.

Literally walks into our team as the 2nd best mid behind Steele, and he ain’t that far behind Steele either
Hardly miss one. Yer he walks into our side no doubt. Walks in butchers the pill, puts up decent stats yet has absolutely no impact on the game. No thanks.

Equal 4th in the AFL for average marks per game in 2020 is enough of an indicator there is a lot to work with. Intercepting was right on par with our other defenders in Wilkie, Howard, Sinclair and Webster. if we can get his body and attitude in the right place, the sky is the limit as a defender. Not a chance i would trade him.

Comparing Sinclair to Coffield in 2020...

Reads quite well.

Why would Horne Francis agree?? To what? Playing at stkilda..?
Yes.
He's supposedly been wanting to go home, and/or doesn't like it at Norff.
However with Clarko's appointment he may stay at Norff, or he may still want to go home. But why would he move to StKilda? We literally have nothing to offer him.

So we don’t chase any players with the mindset, why bother..?

Not disparaging Taranto but there’s no way I’m trading out multiple picks for him.

Hit the draft & have a crack at Giants FA’s next season.

And the snark and bitchy replies start. You didn't articluate at all, you were trying your snark yesterday saying Butlers pressure was a myth, and completely changed your opinion today. Don't get pissy because you have been caught out. Trying to get likes lol. As stated I am doing something about the woeful state of our club, soooooo positive.
It's like saying all your posts are to get likes from the misery merchants who whinge and moan but won't put their money where their mouth is. As I said yesterday true colours, you think you are busier than a President that runs an 8 billion dollar company. lulz :D :D.

What ever, I don't think I contradicted myself at all.

Well they are, my only interest is likes from my misery posse. I'm busier because I don't run a billion dollar company. I stop working, I go hungry. He has staff to do his shit for him, that and the fact that I'm quite lazy and couldn't be ****ed.

The only thing duller than my whining is your whining about it.

I've got no issue with it if they look quality. Gibcus last year would have been great.

If we were to somehow manage to get 2 top 10 picks I think there are some good mids high in the draft we could use the first one on.

Don't mind the look of the kid from WA with the next pick.

I'm not interested in bringing in below average key defenders from other clubs.

Pretty happy with Windhager so far which helps the midfield dilemma but we still definitely need to find an elite mid somewhere. It looks like they are in the top 6 or so in the draft as usual.

Gibcus has been really good and looks like a gun, I got him wrong but just never rated going top 20 picks on backs. Talls have a lower strike rate and tall backs seem lower again.

Ok fine. We should go after Petracca, Cripps and Daicos too then.

I was in disbelief that I couldnt see Matty Allison OOC for 2022... then not 2023... Hes signed until 2024.

I mean I guess hes only add his 2 year draft contract so far, but we're talking about a guy whos recently played full VFL games for 3 touches.

Shocker.

Not saying trade him this year- pump his value up and ship him off next year.

Fyi- i rate him and think he'll be as good as battle.

But we've got too many of the same style player- and have already committed to battle, wilkie, doogs. (Plus gonna lose highmore for nothing)

Gotta makr the tough call and cash out one of them so we can fix other holes in our list

Just lost all of our run off half back

Yep I can only assume the club see something we can't, but on face value seems like a really speculative extension. They have played him everywhere in the VFL with absolutely no indication he is even up to that standard. Harsh on a kid learning the game but list spots are gold and it is almost certain we will delist better players than him this year. I can only assume he has an athletic profile they think is worth persisting with but hard to tell that from watching games as he is hardly ever on screen. Must have a great manager.
