I would have happily told you it was a bad idea before they did it the first time to appoint Rhyce Shaw, but you have a nice meme, so you win the internet.
Plenty on here wanted Clarko to coach St Kilda without:
- any questions being asked
- any process being entered into
- without there being a vacancy at St Kilda in the position of head coach
Then again, I am a governance professional so I might not know what I am talking about <sarcasm font off>.

The floating of Clark's availability smells a lot like what Hawthorn have unsuccessfully tried over the past couple of trade periods with Mitchell and Breust and Gunston etc. Didn't work for them because the offers were too low or not signed up to by the player or no one was interested. Seems like the same approach here if it is part of the strategy to bring in extra draft picks I don't see how else you can do it under the current rules. It is not the NBA where you can just sell a players contract.
Typically it is a player/agent led market clubs just respond to player requests for trade if it is the club trying to initate a trade of a contracted player it becomes complicated and messy. If the strategy is to try and get a high draft pick then either we get the pick or we hold the player. If Clark gets his nose out of joint and demands a trade bad luck we will mend fences after trade period.
The only caveat to that is if they want rid of him at any cost really can't see why that would be the case unless the wild gossip on here has any foundation or our Salary cap is busted but there is no hint of that.
Good test for our List Management team this year they have shown they are up to the task when they are focused on trading in players how good and imaginative are they when trading out. If it is Norths future second round PP for Clark that would be a fail for me.
