He was heading in the right direction and got smashed by injury. Why is that so hard to comprehend?
Its not - but obviously the club thinks differently about his application and his drive to reach his potential. Hunter strikes me as a laconic laid back type and sometimes its in the best interest for both parties to part ways.

It's pretty strange to see the Suns salary dumping whilst also offering Long a four year deal on what I imagine is very good coin.
Not sure why people are imagining it being a deal on good coin

I doubt there would have been any other club offering Long 4 year, or even 3. I'd imagine that would be the biggest selling point for a player that at 25 hasn't cemented a spot in our 22

Sorry, but that's all just speculation. It doesn't actually mean anything. I don't care how he "strikes you".

Let's deal with facts. Hunter was looking really good. Hunter got smashed by injury.

If he gets a run at it with a team that has a decent gameplan he'll kill it. I'd like that to be us.

Spot on. 350k x 4 years is a great deal for long. Future secured!

It was obvious the club wanted another earlier pick at the draft & with the Bowes + pick #7 report they may get their wish without having to trade out Clark.

Neither he nor the club have officially said he is going anywhere yet so it is all speculation and you might get your wish. It would be great if he stays.

Having said that I have questioned his lack of development even before his injuries, so I wont be concerned if he does leave as long as we get a decent return.

You don’t think other clubs will be lining up to do this
Of course they will but how when you replace norths future pick with ours does it affect that. Clark doesn’t need to be involved in any way. You think getting reamed by north is somehow going to increase our chances 😳.

You were worried about 2020 when he finished top 10 in the b&f and played some very good football.

This whole Clarkson / Hawthorn thing is going to turn the AFL trade period on its head…. I can’t see any of the names linked with North Melbourne wanting to go there now that it looks like Clarkson won’t be there.. and a few north players may look elsewhere.

Would you be mad about this?

Yes.

Theres no need to link deals for Bowes and Hunter Clark, and despite any short-comings of his attitude / effort / social circles, Clark should be worth more to us than a future 2nd.

North can find a pick between 10 and 15 or they can hit the road.

I'd rather give our own future 2nd in any deal for Bowes and 7, than get unders for one of our better youngsters.

Long is worth very little

Top 10 picks are worth gold

Long is worth a lot to Gold Coast though. Despite a tight cap they have offered him 4 years on good coin.

The Suns clearly rate him and he wants to go there. They will be desperate to seal the deal, not just for him but to show other players that they will get deals done if they are a nominated club.

Time will tell

As I've said a few times, in yet to see anywhere in the media that he's been offered good coin

I would love to know how many AFL coaches would prefer Jed Anderson over Brad Hill in their team.
I'd guess none.
Look at what Jeds output is from far less opportunity. Would give us a more physical presence than Hill can offer as well.

Anyway, the big ticket item would be the better draft picks. Bowes and Anderson would just be there to offset the loss of Clark and Hill, if they ended up better it would be a huge bonus, if not we have the picks to hopefully snag better players.

You keep telling me how good Dunstan is

All in on Clarkson weren't you. How dumb are the admin not to get him hey?

You gone very quiet on that haven't you?
Well to be fair no one saw this shit show happening the last few days so calling him out on that's a tad harsh
SEN reporting Essendon talking to Bytel
Welcome to the last 6 weeks SEN

I’ve read $500,000 in an SEN article and heard $500,000 mentioned on 3AW and SEN.

Don’t know if it’s true but that would seem to be around the mark. It will probably be back ended as well.

Imagine if we are able to pull off the Bowes deal and go to the draft with picks #7 & #9. I have a lot more faith in the current recruiters than past and its the sought of thing that would set us up for years.

All the naysayers bagging the club on the exiting player rumours will be eating humble pie.

It will be just the thing we need at this point in time as well, could be huge. I just hope we don’t cave and throw Hunter away for a second rounder - gotta be more ruthless than that if we’re ever going to become good
