If we do get a pick in the 20s it’s poor management from our list guys it’s 3 wasted years with Hill we have recruited a guy spent big on dollars and for we gave up for him

People responsible for our drafting and recruiting need to be made accountable for past mistakes and supporters aren’t numptys for being p1ssed we what’s happened

What the people who are currently responsible for drafting and recruiting need to be made accountable for past mistakes made by someone else?

So we sack them.
Then we get new people responsible for drafting and recruiting.
Then we hold them accountable for past mistakes and sack them too. etc etc.

Sounds like a plan.

How many clubs have won flags without experienced players over 30 years old in the side.

We have Tom Campbell on the list currently that’s it.

Hanners,Gears haven’t played and u can see how much better we are when Ryder plays.

Our leadership group is still relatively young. Membrey the only one who has just ticked over 150 games. We need more onfield leadership to assist imho

Bringing in more talented 18 year olds isn’t the solution. Selling out the farm for draft picks won’t help.

Clark can be replaced I can’t see a like for like for Brad hill in our side tbf.

I used to like the Veterans list concessions. It allowed the club to pay some older ( single club players ) 50% outside the cap.
It kept the club champions in the game longer, and was an incentive to stay even if they got offers to go elsewhere.

You’d think at the end of season player interviews they would ask each of them whether they’re open to a potential trade during the off season.

It would make sense if every person on the list had to fill in a questionnaire on being traded.

Would you be open to being traded to another club?
If you were traded would you go interstate, would you rule it out, or would it depend on details?

If everyone had to do it , then the player being asked wouldn't get all nervous and it would stop media speculation.

Only problem is that it would give Geelong another $5mill to spend as their whole list could go on it.

You’re pretty much on the money with this post
I mentioned at the start of the year players were annoyed with Ratts and how he plays favourites with a few players and few players told Ratts this in their exit interviews last year

Ratten, you play favorites, you always select others ahead of me.
Yes , they are good at footy.
But i'm a goddam jet.

I may be mistaken, but I think he left there in 2011 and this stuff all happened from 2012-2017, before he went back?
Even if he was, you don't commission a report then step aside based on it.
its under the category of cleaning out your own nest.
If he knew about the stuff that had gone on, he wouldn't have needed to commission the report.

did i tell you that Lenny is on his way back lol

As Geelong swept all before them and didn't lose after R9, I decided to go back and watch that game.
Co incidently it was against the Saints.

Anybody who states we have no gameplan needs to go back and watch that game.

After a see sawing 1st half, it seemed the Cats were getting on top, they played very similar to most games I saw them in this year, using their mid pressure to rush forward entry kicks and have Tom Stewart clean up.
First good move was to nullify Stewart by playing Sharman on him. The easy outs from defence to a free HBF'er were stifled and we got stoppages and repeat entries.

In the third they got 22 points ahead mainly by drawing our half forwards down the ground so when we won the ball we had nobody to kick to especially on the skinny side.
This is where our mids and half backs got to work, instead of kicking to a congested skinny side players like Gres would wait until a mid or Hill would work to the centre of ground, Seb or Hill would then hit the fat side getting the ball from inside to outside on a number of occasions very quickly and getting us within range
Once we got on a roll, Rohan was winning the centre contests mainly to Seb and Crouch who would set up forward inside 50's. The 6 6 6 rule was exploited and our midfield with Seb and Zac Jones giving us run and carry. The half forwards could play higher and we got repeat entries and goals.
Using the gameplan effectively we scored 6 goals in 14 minutes. Geelong have a fantastic gameplan and work ethic however if you can get the switch inside then outside quickly, they don't have the legs.
4th quarter very different, Geelong got within 3 points and the quarter became an arm wrestle, Paddy was the difference, Geelong concentrated on Max and Paddy as the second tall sealed the game.

It showed when we played with pressure, confidence and flair ( both Jones and Gres were excellent) we can match and outplay the best.
When we lose confidence, get hesitant and make mistakes we go into our shell. We made lots of mistakes v Geelong but they tidied up and went again. This is the difference between pre and post bye. Losing players with flair like Gres, and Jones who lost all form really hampered our run.
However after watching R9 where we matched and beat the best team of the year, I refuse to believe we have no gameplan.

What Gallagher and Leathlean not there now ?
No we shouldn’t learn from our mistakes just keep doing them again and again

Yeah.
What happened to that SS?

I'm not surprised to hear that story about Hill. He has a terrible relationship with our fans, probably cops it from the crowd more than any player I've seen.

When you hear that it makes me think it might be for the best if he moves on.

Thank you Jesus.
I love the itk stuff and unfortunately what Hilly said is probably true.
No comment on his performance but I hear some of the most vile shit thrown his way by our supporters some weeks. Hurts to imagine saints fans shitting on our own

At the risk of trying to get this thread back on track, here is a task for those interested.
Give a Draft Pick rating for the players that have been flagged to possibly be leaving, interested in leaving or are out of contract.
No consideration being placed on paying part of their contract or which club would want them just a Player for Pick swap.

Here is my crack at it.
  • Clark: Pick 19
  • Hill: Pick 13
  • Long: Pick 35
  • Bytel: Pick 42
  • Byrnes: Pick 53
  • Highmore: Pick 47
  • Lienert: Pick 85
  • Campbell: Pick 70
