Hope we don’t trade out next years 1st as I think we will have a pick anywhere from 5 to 10

Again Brisbane's list manager said how good the next draft is gong to be as well. Not one you get out of to move 2 into 1 in draft with not much high end talent but a pretty even spread.

Depends on the individual I suppose

Isaac Smith looked pretty hungry thus year for an old fella

Probably wanted one last bite of the cherry before he retired.

There has been a lot of Clark and Selwood comparisons - is that off Geelong wanting him, or is he that inside type?

Because if he is very inside, I could see Hawks preferring someone who leans more outside to compliment the mids they already have.

I reckon they're our biggest threat for McKenzie.

Ward, Worpol and Newcomb are a decent inside combo. I think some outside class is more a need for them. McKenzie has a bit more of that balanced mid feel about him.

I'm starting to think we tried but nobody genuinely wants to come to the Saints. One of the most active trade weeks in years and we got Cordy.. Goodness.

Teams higher on the ladder trade in good players. I don't understand how we get better next year.
100%; the main takeaway for the club is the why?
Is it our ladder position or general feel about the list quality and potential for success?

Or, has it something to do with culture
Is it an environment where players generally love the place and can't get enough of it like Geelong?

Could the st kildas brain trust ratten etc pitch for opposition teams players be mediocre and less than inspiring compared to say Hinkleys at port who they say is reportably very very good?

Personally, I can say that Justin longmuire and Peter Bell's is A grade.

Whatever it is we need to be asking the questions to find out

How much longer will the club keep employing incompetent people for

Its like they are willfully trying to bring this club to its knees.

Even Riewoldt was ropable when he heard we had no interest in this deal. His comments really come in a different light now and there should be no push back from posters now as to what he said in the media.

Hahahhaahhahahahaha

Doesn't bode well for gags and co in terms of assessing their competence.

Ie- they certainly missed a trick they should have been all over.

But after reading the bowes article- he was never going anywhere other than geelong due to their interest in him stretching back 12+ months.

Everyone else was just making up the numbers.

So gags and co didn't in reality cost us a shot at bowes (cos we never would have had a shot- same as bombers and hawks).

But they most certainly did demonstrate that they were too late to a party they really should have been at (if they were halfway competent).

Unfortunately given our historical lack of success we are just a whipping boy for the likes of Puprles apprentice Cleary and the Drink Driver Kingy.

Imagine if we went with Weidemann it would have been we are over rating our list and kidding ourselves. Not a ruck etc .

Trade out pick 9 , what are we doing short term thinking.

We had stuff all currency , could have traded out some players like Hawthorn did . Difference being they do it not an issue we do it and someone goes on and wins a premiership we get our noses rubbed in it.

Our list is in a mess, need an injection of talented a grade youth, but this is not a one draft fix we need to nail the next couple and not only early selections.

But ffs don’t take list advice from Cleary . Campbell is a better ruck than all of the players he mentioned.

Not a great trade period didn’t achieve what Gags said we wanted to do, but we had no currency. And for this we need to hold Gags and the team accountable.

Until we get success and win it we will always be treated the way are as a joke .

Oh FFS...

If Home Alone taught me anything, it was the term "les incompétents". Last one to the party, just when everyone else is leaving.

It is an embarrassing look.

Whatever they are doing. It isn’t working.

My last rant and then I'm moving on. Somewhat jealous of what Hawthorn did by forcing a change to their list.

They move an aging Mitchell into an opportunity-starved 21yo 1st Round Pick. They moved an aging O'Meara into a 5-10 year ruckman.

Both moves needing no Draft picks.

We could have done that with Hill, with Membrey. Just feels like we're going to waste another season hanging onto a mediocre list. Hawks aren't dying wondering.

If we're going to invest in the Draft, invest in the Draft.
