Hahahhaahhahahahaha

Yeah we should have gone all out on De Goey, Grundy, Bowes, Dunkley and Taranto. Promised them all the world

That way if any of them had said yes, we could have told the rest of them to p*** off.

Perfect trading strategy - how not to win friends and influence people.

Twitter - what a waste of space!!!

Bowes had pick 7 attached to him, that is what all the drama is about.

Our number 1 Saint of the last 20 years even wanted us to go after this.

The pre-season narrative is set now. The media will be coming after St Kilda and Ratts if we play sh*t footy from round 1. We deserve the blowtorch, might kick a few up the arse.
We are irrelevant. If this was collingwood or Richmond - they would be outside the holden Centre or punt road today wanting answers and a story

Maybe employ people to these roles who are stkilda through and through so it's not just a role?

I've always said we needed the emotional attribute attached to our club roles.

Why we gave one of the most important positions in the club to a fringe Adelaide player who worked for a investment bank is beyond me.

I don't care if we're shit as long as all our good young players are getting games- Ratts backed NWM, Owens and Windhager last year and it paid dividends.

Same again next year with Phillipou/Mackenzie.

Yup. Now assuming this is true that’s a reason to be pissed.

Not that Geelong wouldn’t have been the favourite all along but this is not a good look for us given that Saints fans are already dismayed with our efforts this off-season.

Hopefully onwards to better things with a new influx of leadership at the club. We can hopefully put this behind us now.

I'm getting a little tired of your Zen Buddhist attitude these days sunny3193.
I was going to quote Mick Malthouse “The Earth is slow and the…” but I clearly had forgotten the specifics of that thought bubble. 😜
I wrote elsewhere that our real trade period was off field, and I’m quite bullish on how that eventuates. I have lived through such abysmal administrations that seeing us finally getting the off field side of things happening is of far greater comfort to me than any activity with trades.
Hence the Zen Buddhist calm.
Now no time to talk further, I have a few mantras that need chanting here at the Ashram.

Fremantle identified this and lured Peter Bell and Longmuire to the club.
Building the culture

Some will complain regardless. We trade too many in we're topping up. We don't trade anything and we were too quiet.

Winning trade week is great I remember when we did it a few years ago. It was incredible.

At the end of the day though all you can really win is games of footy, the rest is all talk. We need to get better at doing that consistently.

What Gags says, what Bassatt says, what Ratts says in the media, it's talk. No games for six months so very hard to do anything of any real meaning until then.

The reports from Cal Twomey and Jon Ralph both contradict this version of events.

My last rant and then I'm moving on. Somewhat jealous of what Hawthorn did by forcing a change to their list.

They move an aging Mitchell into an opportunity-starved 21yo 1st Round Pick. They moved an aging O'Meara into a 5-10 year ruckman.

Both moves needing no Draft picks.

We could have done that with Hill, with Membrey. Just feels like we're going to waste another season hanging onto a mediocre list. Hawks aren't dying wondering.

If we're going to invest in the Draft, invest in the Draft.
Go and watch them play every week for the next few years and see if you're still envious.

How did Hawthorn or Essendon go with Bowes? They got a meeting. Congratulations. Lots of stuff happens at meetings.

Geelong got into Bowes early because they had Hocking's intel on GC's salary cap mess. Simple.

I think we could have been into Dunkley, Taranto or Hopper a whole lot more. But it would have certainly involved trading out of the top 20 in the draft. We wanted to keep our first so it was De Goey or bust.

The problem from the PR point of view is that we don't play a game for another five months. So the narrative will set in.

And having a problem with another fan's laid-back attitude? I think we should all go and grab a coke and a smile at times.
