The offer was pick 4, Adelaides 2022 first and Melbourne's 2022 first for pick 1 and a future 2nd

We aren't getting ahead of ourselves. That is 3 first round picks...
Okay fine, the last one is an upgrade of about 4 picks from Norths pick 19 and is technically pushed into the first round but you are embellishing the "3 first rounders" without adding the important caveate that the final pick is only a slight steak knives improvment on a pick they already had.

*edit, and looking it up that late first rounder was originally Melbourne's pick who was likely expected to finish in a grand final which would have meant an expected 1 or 2 pick upgrade. Barely worth mentioning.

if NWM does ask to go back home, would his preferred club be Port?

Port would only be able to trade a player wouldn't they due to the AFL making you take a minimum of one 1st round pick over 3 years (I think that's what it is)

if they do give up 2 first for JHF they would either have to trade in a 1st round pick, or offer a good player (ie georgiades, butters, dursma, rozee etc)

If he is homesick, then trade him to the Crows who could probably offer something better
Rankine?

I just had a convo with a mate that plays down at red hill with a lot of Clark’s mates. We 💯 shopped him around without his knowledge. If we get unders it’s our fault I feel now
So Clark has been going around telling all his mates the club is shopping him around , hmmm i doubt it

5 pick upgrade

Pretty handy steak knives to go with Rachele and pick 5 this year...

I wasn't embalashing anything. All I stated is that North could have had Rachele and 2 firsts this year.

That's 100% true. Instead they traded away that 2nd round for CJJ who they could have walked to PSD anyway

He will fit in with Stephenson. Lot of unrealised talent. He should be busting his ass to make it as a mid but instead we have him off half back so he can have some impact. I hope the club gets it done.
In Clarks defence. Constantly getting injured when ever he’s been about to crack it in the midfield has got to be tough mentally. Not making excuses just trying to see it from his perspective. For instance, prior to round one he was playing as a mid and was our best player in our last praccy game before busting his shoulder. Like it’s pretty deflating. It’s not a defence for shot off field stuff but more for the mental state

Hi everyone, pardon the intrusion. Currently working on a little project for the main board and I was hoping to grab the names of any ITK posters here on the Saints board. Cheers.
Just note down every second name you see, that should be ok for starters

Are you starting a hall of fame or is that shame

The way that would work is that we’d shop him around and any interested parties would then get in touch with Clark’s management, to see if he’s open to going there, and then if he is, they’d get back in touch with us to work out if a deal is likely to get done or not.
I’d argue that you don’t shop a player. The player shops himself.

See Bowes.

what was his family's situation?

He's connected to Port through his step dad (former player Fabian Francis) and when he was younger he had to help look after his mum and baby brother. He was even working outside of school and footy to support them and took 1 day a week off to essentialy be a stay at home dad for the day and give his mum a break.

He's an extreme talent but, unless you are going to relocate and set up his entire family, he was always heading back to SA at some point.

North were offere 3x 1st round picks by Adelaide - Pick 4 last year + Crows 1st and Melbourne's 1st this year - but declined.

Was a mistake then, looking even worse now.

They'll get 2x 1st rounders from Port - Pick 8 + next year's first - but their credibility is smashed. The kid they take at 8 is going to have an almightly level of pressure on him, not to mention the player taken at #1 this year is going to have AAAAAALLLL the power in negotiating an extention. North cannot possibly allow two #1 picks to leave so they are gonna pay him whatever he wants.

Helps with getting them to change their mindset and see the clubs POV

Yeah that's the hope with Clark, it's the kick up the arse he needed. Happened to both Billings and Ross last year apparently, worked for Ross, while Billings didn't really have a clean run at it to show improved attitude.

From what you are saying , no amount of money would keep him here so why is the next No1 going to get payed what he wants ?

Im not saying they shouldnt have taken it, but its only in hindsight that it looks so good.

Adelaide could have pushed for finals this year and given them pick 11 and melbourne could have won the grand final giving them a 1 pick upgrade.

What became Pick 6, a future pick 11 and upgrading from pick 19 to pick 18 suddenly doesnt look so amazing when you're giving up a realsticially Judd type player. It just wasnt the super obvious deal people are making it out to be.

North Melbourne rejected an astonishing offer of three first-round picks for the No.1 pick in this year’s draft, reports AFL Media.

Adelaide made the enormous bid this week, putting pick 4 on the table along with their 2022 first-round pick and Melbourne’s 2022 first-round pick, acquired this week.

So they could have had Rachele amd two firsts this year....
Such a bonehead move by Norff. As a rebuilding club it was reprehensible.

Tarryn Thomas possibly available?

Imagine if their was a mechanism for a club to accept an offer a full year after it was made.

North would jump at that now.

And yet there were significant rumblings even before JHF was drafted that he was a flight risk, and that's now turned out to be true. Same as there were with Rankine (and also Lukosius and King, to be fair).
Rankine had no intention to return to South Australia until Adelaide put a ridiculous amount of cash in front of him.

Let's say North take Wardlaw with pick #1

They sit him down halfway through 2023 and say "Hey George, we'd love to get an extention signed and generate some good news for the club. We are prepared to pay you 500k a year for 3 more years."

George could bend them over and say "Pay me 900k a year for those 3 years otherwise I'm asking for a trade. I can play for Essendon/Collingwood/Melbourne etc for 500k in front of massive MCG crowds. If you want me to get pumped at Marvel in front of 15,000 then the price is 900k"

North either bend over and pay him, GWS/GC style, or they lost two #1 draft picks in consecutive years.

Yep North's poor form in the last few years coupled with the fact that they were already a smaller club is pushing them dangerously close to GC/GWS territory. They will need to overpay players to entice them them across/ keep them on.
If we continue to be a mid table team for a few more years, we won't be far behind

Rankine had no intention to return to South Australia until Adelaide put a ridiculous amount of cash in front of him.

So that actually makes it an even worse idea to draft South Australian players, because you'll get stuck with the shit ones.

If they turn out to be good, Adelaide or Port convince them to come home by throwing cash at them, and you get unders.

It they turn out to be no good, they don't bother to chase them so you just end up delisting them.

Both sound like poor outcomes to me.
