North Melbourne rejected an astonishing offer of three first-round picks for the No.1 pick in this year’s draft, reports AFL Media.

Adelaide made the enormous bid this week, putting pick 4 on the table along with their 2022 first-round pick and Melbourne’s 2022 first-round pick, acquired this week.

So they could have had Rachele amd two firsts this year....

North should have taken the Crows deal last year.

JHF was almost always going back home early given his family situation.

You could say the same for Nas. We are hoping that we can get our shit together and make ourselves pretty for him and that his homesickness dissipates.

Both players came with the flight risk, both clubs ignored it knowing that they would have to fight to keep them. You should always go best available but you have to question the strategy and interviewing techniques of our recruiters. I'm assuming this was one of Toce's picks being an SA kid. He's got one strike if he leaves. He's got a draft where he has a full set of picks and a whole country to pick from. He hopefully has more ticks than crosses from it.

Hopefully we finally get our shit together and play finals next year and Nas has just played 23 games and looks a star. If not we could be back at the draft trying to find a player who could take 5 years to get to the level.

Wish we'd taken Sonsie.

But got chatting today.

apparently

The club was very direct about his work ethic in his post season review. (Allergic to the gym + previous stuff I’ve mentioned)

Clark got a bit sooky.

Made it known he would be keen on a move in afl circles and the club didn’t shut it down but essentially said North don’t have value for him when they came asking thinking they were getting an AFL priority pick bounty.

Clarko stuff freaked him out abit.

But it’s not dead and buried.

So let’s see.
I just had a convo with a mate that plays down at red hill with a lot of Clark’s mates. We 💯 shopped him around without his knowledge. If we get unders it’s our fault I feel now

The reason I don’t believe the stories about him not knowing, is that ultimately he says where he goes if he gets traded.

So why would we shop him, find a deal we like and then have Clark say - I’m not going there.

I don’t doubt Clark is unhappy with his season review. But I’m also more confident he and his manager did their own leg work on this aswell

That deal was 2021 first pick, 2022 first pick and a swap of 2 later ones. Still a good deal but lets not get ahead of ourselves with 3 first round picks.

Yeah no idea if it’s true either but nothing surprises me with this footy club these days

There is no evidence that either JHF or NWM showed signs that they would return to SA at the first opportunity.

Some 18/19 year old kids think they will be fine living away from home and end up wanting to return. Others think they will be homesick yet end up fine for their entire careers.

The offer was pick 4, Adelaides 2022 first and Melbourne's 2022 first for pick 1 and a future 2nd

We aren't getting ahead of ourselves. That is 3 first round picks...

He contracted, what’s he going to do stand out 🤣🤣. We’ll get what we want or he stays would be my read.

The way that would work is that we’d shop him around and any interested parties would then get in touch with Clark’s management, to see if he’s open to going there, and then if he is, they’d get back in touch with us to work out if a deal is likely to get done or not.

That’s what reviews ar for, the good with the bad. I’ve found from experience it’s not good to soften the blow at review time. However, there should be no surprises either. Hunter should have been made aware throughout the year his attitude towards gym work was slack.

Obviously this JHF news will have us spooked, but Nasiah has looked like a superb draftee thus far. Looks like he could be a special player, which is what we need.

Haven't seen much of Sonsie but I doubt he's looked at Nasiah's level.

Fingers crossed Nasiah re-signs soon.

Great value where Sonsie as drafted though.

Sonsie took a while to break into the senior side, but looked every bit as good as NAS if not better when he got in there.

Steel of the draft IMO

There is no evidence that either JHF or NWM showed signs that they would return to SA at the first opportunity.

And yet there were significant rumblings even before JHF was drafted that he was a flight risk, and that's now turned out to be true. Same as there were with Rankine (and also Lukosius and King, to be fair).
