Different list 4 years ago but same issue. We needed pure mids and went for two HBF'ers.
Have you had a look at who went after Clark and Coffield in that draft?

The only “pure mids” of anything resembling note who went outside the top 5 in that draft were Tim Kelly (who went at pick 24 and sought a trade back home after just 1 year) and the very average James Worpel (pick 45).

Clark was about as close as you’d get to a “pure mid” of all the guys rated in the mix around that pick, as he killed it in the midfield in the back half of that draft year.

If that’s even remotely on the radar why not just sit down with the guy and say look hear you’re homesick, not happy here whatever….is that likely to be the case moving forward if yes we are happy to deal now
NWM will be a gun - he’s out of contract next year so aren’t we better flushing this out now?
Adelaide will be using their first pick in this year’s draft on Rankine and Port will presumably use this year’s and next years firsts on JHF, so the only pick of interest left for us would potentially be Adelaide’s future first, which they may think is too much to ask.

But got chatting today.

apparently

The club was very direct about his work ethic in his post season review. (Allergic to the gym + previous stuff I’ve mentioned)

Clark got a bit sooky.

Made it known he would be keen on a move in afl circles and the club didn’t shut it down but essentially said North don’t have value for him when they came asking thinking they were getting an AFL priority pick bounty.

Clarko stuff freaked him out abit.

But it’s not dead and buried.

So let’s see.

Hunter just needs to embrace the gym. Very lazy and unenthusiastic when it comes to the weights room.

Pick 8 for Hunter Clark

NWM will re-sign before the start of the next season.

If he is that homesick, maybe we should trade him whilst he contracted, wouldn't we get a better return?

If we don't play finals next year I reckon more players will start wanting out. Laughing at North's misfortune is a bit like the cross-eyed kid beating up the kid who pisses himself.

You have to feel sorry for them. The Hawks paid Clarko $1 million pa to not coach them and rumours that Essendon heard of the fall out before taking Clarko on....something smells funny. North walked in to a nuclear s**t storm. Now players abandoning like rats.
We better buckle up because I don’t see us playing finals next year

It really depends on the fixture and how well we do with minor trades and going through the bins. Norfs apparent misfortune might just work out well for them. Plenty of young talent on the list when a Tassie franchise does come in won’t be a bad position to be in. There’s a message in that for us as well, keep drafting, stay patient, keep improving without doing something stupid.

For what?

Most likely both Adelaide clubs won’t have a first rounder in this year’s draft and Port presumably won’t have one in next year’s either, so we’d most likely be looking at a future pick at best.

So unless it was an extremely good future pick (and without a crystal ball you’re ultimately guessing as to how well a team will go), we might as well not bother and just see if he settles in the meantime.

I don't have crystal ball, but if he is not contracted, either of the 2 SA clubs could then take him for nothing.

Nth have really gone downhill
Clarkson a ex-North player coming home is found to be out of order and could very well be banned.
One of there best ever players in Carey is busted with white powder and sacked
A one time Nth player and coach comes out as a Transvestite.
Last years pick 1 wants out.
What does Carey and Laidley have to do with anything

in the 80s we had carlton and hawthorn winning flags then signing bradley kernahan dorotich and platten, while the saints signed john favier, now we have pick 7,dunkley,jackson,grundy,toranto & hopper all going to top 8 sides

jhf decision almost a breath of fresh air

equalisation my ass, more like de ja vu all over again

North should have taken the Crows deal last year.

JHF was almost always going back home early given his family situation.
