Look, let’s just keep this resting thing simple…… everyone who played in the 2’s this week plays against the Giants. Everyone who played in the winning side against GC gets to lay on the beach for the week. Simples. 22 changes should excite the media.

For anyone saying rest a bunch of players this week. Does anyone think Michael Voss would do that? We are going in with our strongest possible side and that’s all anyone needs to know. Michael Voss isn’t sitting down doing equations on how to avoid Brisbane in Brisbane in a PF or other such scenarios, “let’s try to face Sydney instead of GWS in the EF, so tanking against GWS might get us there.”

The only players who might be rested are players who are carrying something, or genuinely could use the week off (Cripps perhaps).

Not sure about Kennedy. Can't remember the timelines for all the injuries, but hasn't he been out for a while?
I'd prefer Cerra 1st and Walsh 2nd as replacements. If both of those guys come in, then I see no need for Kennedy at all.
Assuming Cripps was the only out for the mids, Cerra (or Walsh), Hewett, Doc, Dow, with Acres and Hollands on the wings, and rotations from Cunners and Fish is still pretty decent and not sure how Kennedy would improve that.

Having said that, if NOBODY needs a rest, all our injured are available and nobody gets injured during the game, then I'd be more than happy to bring in the best ones from the injury list while dropping the fringe and playing full strength.
I reckon that's less likely than resting some players though.
Reckon you are selling Matt a bit short here. Was in career best form before his injury. He is definitely best 22 imo. Comes down to who do you rate higher, George or Bam Bam. Hewitt has been great over the last few weeks, however Kennedy is a stronger mark and is a better kick. I think Matt will play this week, in place of Crippa. He will probably be a little rusty and will need some more time on the pine than normal. Going to be interesting to see how he goes, if he plays. Would not at all be surprised if he plays well and puts himself squarely in the conversation for finals.

Believe we have this lot covered; imagine what a two week rest would do to the likes of Crippa, Doc, and Weiters??? We can loose this one and still have a locked in Melbourne/MCG final, Swans will need to beat Melbourne by 150 points to go past our %....

Def: Kemp, Saad, McGov, Marchie, Newman, Cinc, Fisher

Mids: TDK, Walshie, Cerra, Hollands, Blacres, Dow, Cotts, George

Fwds: Charlie, Harry, Mots, Owies, JM, Foges, JSOS

Sub: Ed

In: McGov, Walsh, Cerra, Foges, JSOS
Out: Crippa, Doc, Weiters (all rested), Pitto, Cunners

Crippa, Doc and Weiters come straight back in.....

Marchie, Fisher and Dow (to sub for entire final series unless injury)

I agree - we don’t know enough about ourselves to risk it.

What we know is confidence is up and we are rolling along.

Only change for injuries & returning value-adds.

Carlton won’t give their stars an extra week to recover before the finals, with Sam Walsh and Adam Cerra returning to face GWS. Plus Mitch McGovern is back and the latest on Matt Kennedy.
Cripps to start with Kennedy sub. Swap em at half time.

My gut feeling is that we could end up trying this and going with McKay in the ruck. Absolutely no idea, can't pick a side without leaving out players who have form and are playing well. Always thought in situations like this you try to go back to best 22 even though that changes.

Could easily be Kemp out McGovern in his role and Marchbank stays.

Think Docherty, Acres and Cottrell are our first choice wingers with all other pieces back in place.

Think Kennedy will come back slower, via then via the reserves if they are still playing and will be on standby for Cripps or Hewett.

I'm all for McKay playing the second ruck roll, particularly if his form doesn't come quickly. Allows us to be a smaller forward line or a taller forward line.

Not sure if Fogarty comes straight back in. He was rested coming off a good game. Think Motlop and Owies are cemented in.

Boyd for Cincotta is a tough one, I just think Boyd is a little better. Little quicker, just as hard at it, takes the game on by foot a little better. Cincotta has been really good though. Think Fisher has earned a spot, he's been good.

Marchbank, Kemp and McGovern are interchangeable. DeKoning and Pittonet are interchangeable. Cincotta and Boyd are interchangable. Hollands and Cottrell are interchangeable. Whichever you pick it won't make a huge difference as all are good quality.

Marchbank - The best intercept mark. Maybe plays a little taller than the others.
McGovern - Fast, plays tall and small, great kick, kicking stands out.
Kemp - Fast, plays small well, generates run.

Cottrell or Hollands - Hollands will probably end up being better but at this stage Cottrell is probably just that little bit better.

Pittonet or DeKoning - DeKoning is a bit better up forward, Pittonet is a bit better as a pure ruck.

Fogarty or another player? Silvagni perhaps. Dow maybe. I think as a role player he has played a role really well.

B: Newman Weitering Kemp
HB: Saad McGovern Fisher
C: Docherty Cripps Acres
HF: Cuningham Martin Motlop
F: McKay Curnow Owies
OB: Pittonet Walsh Cerra
IC: Boyd Hewett Cottrell Fogarty
SUB: Dow
EM: Marchbank Cincotta Hollands DeKoning

Over the entirety of our streak, what is our best side? Really hard to say because all have had great moments.

Always had fairly strong opinions of who our best 22 is, never been so indecisive in my living memory. Depth is really good and so is our list health.

This will be another big test against a form team. Advantage is we are back home in Melbourne. Will we turn up thought with finals sorted?

Kemp. Weitering. Newman.
McGovern. Docherty. Saad.
Walsh. Hewett. Acres.
Cuningham. Charlie. Martin.
Motlop. Harry. Owies.
R. TDK. Cripps. Cerra.
I. Boyd. Kennedy. Pittonett. Cottrell.

E. Dow. Cincotta. Fisher. Hollands.
Weird emergencies for mine. Dow and Fisher in particular don’t need a rest. And won’t be dropped.

Would be very surprised if Cripps plays. I'm sure if we had locked up finals prior to the GC game, he wouldn't have played. Suspect it was the A Brayshaw incident in the 4th quarter of the Dees game that initiated things.

I’m certain it was that incident.

Must rest him. We’re playing a home final and that’s THE most important game to worry about than this Sunday.

Cripps has never played a final. Let’s make sure the first one he plays he’s feeling 100%.
