Lemmey looks promising but I’d be very hesitant to expose him at AFL level against a hostile crowd as the replacement for our 205cm, Coleman medal winning FF.

If McKay is out then TDK spends more time forward than usual. Simples.

With Walsh and Kennedy coming in, Kennedy and Cripps can spend time forward.

Acres, Walsh and Kennedy, if all returning, give us the ability to really play around with our midfield dynamics.

Does Doc go back to playing predominantly defence and does Cerra continue to play the sweeping role?

I’d love to see Walsh spend some time between wing and half-forward - he’s okay overhead and his legendary work-rate will create all sorts of opportunities.

The return of 2 extra midfielders allows us to use Ed in a shutdown role almost exclusively.

Ed is retained in the team to cover (run with) whichever of their midfielders is giving them most drive. Ie, Dawson, Laird, Keays or whoever.

Possible, but not necessarily Probable Team.

B: McGovern, Young, Newman
HB: Cowan, Weitering, Saad
C: Acres, Docherty, Hollands
HF: Durdin, Curnow, Kennedy
F: Silvagni, McKay, Motlop
R: TDK, Cripps, Cerra
IC: Pittonet, Hewett, Walsh, Fisher,
Sub: Binns

In: Acres, Kennedy, Walsh, Binns
Out: LOB, Curnow, Honey, Carroll

  • Harry's charge is downgraded and cops a find rather than a suspension. Pushing action rather than a striking action.
  • Carroll & Honey look a little off the pace to me.
  • We'll need someone with speed and endurance who can stick a tackle so Binns can debut as the sub.
  • Acres, Kennedy & Walsh come back in.
  • Must provide consistent defensive pressure through the front half and guts or we'll have our arses handed to us.
  • TDK & Pitto need to be more aggressive in the ruck like we were against the Cats.
Debuting as sub should be 🚫

I'd sooner bring Kemp in to play defense, and roll mcgov forward, than play Lemmey just yet
Agree, if Harry goes:
Possible consideration...
McGov with his previous forward experience, marking & goal sense temporarily move forward in lieu Harry.
Kemp, Cincotta, S. Durdin, come in to take defence. Might work, worth consideration.

I’m okay with Lemmey playing two whole seasons in the VFL before he debuts unless he starts kicking bags week in week out
Yep from the reserve games I've seen he need to learn how to work up the ground and get back to impact more contests -- will come with more endurance training -- beautiful kick for goal though

I'm not convinced with Ed in the middle in games these day - we were pumped first half around clearance until they shifted them around and put doc in there then doc went back guv off Nth kicked next four .. doc style for some reason really gets our clearance game clicking .. hopefully Walsh's run is what we are missing but our clearance game was shite end of last year till we were forced to throw doc in there .. there is something he provides that works for us ..

Acres for Obrien
Walsh for E Curnow
Kennedy for Mckay (Honey if Mckay gets off)
Silvagni, Curnow + TDK / Pitt is still a dangerous forward line
Not opposed to the idea of bringing in Kemp for some more versatility

I wouldn't mess with McGov. He is just getting it together as HB playmaker, interceptor. Did a great job against Norf and been building to it.
I'd let him settle and dominate.
We have other options for forward line, between, TDK, Crippa, Kennedy and JSOS.
Kemp would be an experiment, with some risk attached.

Butts seems like he is out injured, same with Worrell, so our KPFs might be Jsos and Charlie and a resting TDK

We would still have the height advantage

Where’s that been mentioned. I know he was subbed off, but I thought they were just looking to get some run.

Crows are becoming our bogey side.Speed will be the biggest issue for us.Overall we look one paced especially our midfield.

Agreed it is a worry but just watched the extended highlights and picked up something I didn't really concentrate on at the ground, fisher in the second half was running hard passed contests to get the receive and move the ball quickly. He was trying to do that in the first half but kept getting himself in a mess. Reckon it is definitely something to persist with, particularly along the wings where he can find space away from a pack.

They sent in Honey as a like for like despite a lack of significant form. No reason why Lemmey can’t come in and play a role, he is far more advanced than most key forwards his age. TDK and JSOS can be huge assets as 3rd and 4th tall, bump them up the order and I feel we lose our height advantage.

Give him his first taste in front of his friends and family I say.

Whether it would or wouldn’t work, won’t happen though right? Voss just doesn’t coach like that.
