Stoked to hear about Caminiti.

Took me a little while to get the Caminiti hype but after a few games seeing him hoof a few long range goals, clunk a few marks I figured he was a prospect. The chinning of Murphy after he cheap shotted him just sealed it for me.

We just need to get big Frase back to the club to teach him how to knock an arseh*le to the ground with a contact free stare.

I'm looking forward to see how Camanitti progresses over the years. He obviously has some talent, and some natural attributes, but quite often guys who have that still miss getting drafted because of their attitude (or not making their bed, hey Trout). To offer 3 years, I reckon we're comfortable that's not the case with Hammer.

He could make a career out of being a 10-touch 2 goal-a-game foil to King for the next decade and no-one would complain.

Smart move on our part to sign him to a solid length contract.... if we'd have taken him in the 1st round people wouldn't shut up about him. His output for a KPF without genuine support and off no pre season is just ridiculous.
We weren't seeing half of what he's shown already with Paddy in year 1, 2 or 3!

He's best mates with the Po too....

Stoked they signed hammer for 3 years. Seems a year longer than usual. Might suggest other clubs had offered him 3 already so we matched the term.

Maybe, except he was an 2 x undrafted SSP selection that got 3 years. I think he is worth it and it suggests he had interest from elsewhere which is hardly surprising.
Well more evidence thst it doesn't matter where or how you get recruited, just how you perform.
I see no anomalous occurrence here. He missed his draft year through injury, got a gig in vfl, did good, got noticed, did good again, got signed, did good again, got a 3 years deal.

100%

If his ceiling is pack busting 3rd tall behind King & Hayes/Heath/Keeler/RuckForward then that's perfectly acceptable.

I see him more like the stay at home deepest forward where he can use his pack busting to help bring smalls in. You imagine he fills out a fair bit and I see him probably becoming a similar player to Tex Walker. That kind of alpha one on one bull forward. Lets us have King out on a lead rather than a deep target where he gets smashed.

Intercept centre half back.

I think Van Es has his sights set on that position, I see Van Es developing into a similiar player to Glen Jakovich. I know thats a big ask but at times he plays with that alpha male attitude. But from what we have seen of the Hammer I think he would be up to the CHB challenge also.

I know we currently have no list spots vacant, but I wonder if the club & recruiters are quietly looking at a player for the MSD. I just located a 2020 article where players who are out for a month could be placed on the LTI. I dont know if that is still in play as it was changed during Covid or what happens when they return? Surely Hayes, Coffield or Jones would qualify if they arent already on the list.

not sure it was mentioned, but on Gettable they talked about Gresh is currently on around $800k p.a. at the moment which was largely due to the club not having others to pay at the time the contract was done (i.e. TPP has to be used to a minimum level).

So the questions are is he still worth $800k a year? If not to us, would he take a haircut or alternatively do you let him walk and use that money to bring in someone that will fulfill a bigger need and perhaps let Gresh fulfill his role better elsewhere?

800k at another club would trigger a first round pick as well

That info would lead one to the logical conclusion that Gresham will at least see what is on offer out there.

I'd be pretty surprised if any club offered him near that. I could see a club giving him a pretty much permanent midfield role though, so that could draw him away. Hope we keep him though, if it's not on too much coin.
