The lack of quality in the Metro v Country game was tough to watch in our position. Amazing how last year it was being regurgitated that it was a super draft.

Super top end more than super depth. Still looks pretty thin.

You’ve got to be able to replace them though. No point delisting every player 26 plus that isn’t top 8 when you get nothing for them. That just absolutely cripples your depth and makes things much harder for the kids trying to be competitive in the VFL.

We did that then had to spend up heaps of capital to bring them back in which meant that we sat out of drafts.

It got talked up as a strong draft 12 months ago but doesn’t look it now. Definitely not overly deep in top end quality anyway. If we miss the 8 we need to cross our fingers that a few jump in front of us.
We are Odds on to miss the 8 IMO so start hunting for a mid

The Marshall debate is an interesting one - it feels like he's the only one with currency that we could consider, and we could replace without giving up too much.

As I've said before though, it must be for a young elite mid or a very high draft pick (i.e. top 5) where we can draft an elite mid.

This feels like McEvoy all over again though (surely we do better than Savage and 17/Dunstan).

Can't see any quality mids making it to our pick even if we do miss the 8 unfortunately.

Sanders was the most likely but he's just dominated the state carnival and ended up with the MVP.

So either we find a way to move up the draft, which will be difficult, or we try and poach one from another club.

North are also trying to get Sanders handed to them as an NGA priority pick.

Thanks for cheering me up, do they look for a key back or hope VE makes it

Harley Reid and Watson played against last year's crop and looked a step above them as underages. I think it's that very pointy end that looks good but doesn't run deep.

That first round looks strong with guys like Caddy who in a normal year could possibly firm as a pick 1. I think the talls are a bit more hit and miss though and it's a draft for talls.

I reckon there will be a few bargains in this one though. Hopefully Toce can find some guns with what we have. I wouldn't be against trading up with later picks for Gold Coast to get points and us a high pick.

Still a decent sized chance we have a pick that’s not worse than about 8. Sanders, Duursma, Wizard. You never know - one may well get through to there.
