Channel 7 said it would be more complicated than that, given that agreement exists between Collingwood and Melbourne only.
I would invisage Melbourne as a pass through, so the existing deal would stand between Collingwood and Melbs with Melbs passing that on with some interest. Of course the AFL has to sign off on this stuff, but effectively it would be the equivalent of subletting a property.

Tell ya what. I be furious if the afl let north have access to sander through their nga. It would be so st kilda if they changed the rules for them and fingered us 12 months earlier
They need some help. I'm not opposed to it. They are well on the way to becoming a complete basket-case, I really feel sorry for their supporters. I know some great North fans and the last few years have destroyed them.

With another top two or three picks this year they’re going to finish up with a damn good list.

They got hand out last year and have good young players. Just develop them properly and stop asking for hand out. They already have two first round picks and will probably get another for McKay. The draft is diluted enough with all the academies in it. The kid isn’t even part of there academy

I think it’s time for the priority pick to be taken off the table. It punishes those clubs around the same mark, and encourages teams to bottom out.
With free agency now in vogue, a better concession would be to allow eligible clubs to have an additional player up to $800k per year that’s kept outside their salary cap. That way they can buy a player who will help them instantly, without hurting those clubs who don’t take the bottom out, rebuild approach.
Free hits at the best young talent are detrimental to the rest of the comp and don’t encourage competitiveness.

Just interested in your opinion around Hotton. What is it based around or is it just a vibe thing.
Only reading about his performances as an under 18 player. Plenty of articles on him and his dad and comments from past coaches. I think he might be a steal at pick 35, time will tell.
I have heard his brother Taj is also very good.

They should judge it on where they’ll be in 3-5 years. Charge them up with a heap of top picks now they’ll still be stuffed next year but in 5 years time they’ll fly right past us .

Dominated as a midfielder in his under 18's year

He seems to be pretty good at ground level, good in traffic and a good set of hands. Probably just needs to fill out a bit, but I think if Ross is already throwing him in there every now and then he must see him as mid in the future
Then either give him a full game in the midfield or put him in the vfl to be a proper mid. Done with seeing him play half forward

People don't realize the talent we have at the club , guys like Keller - 19 at 1.98m have huge scope knowing how skilled he is and big raw boned Heath is going to be a player and I'm not even looking at Adams , Van Es , Hotton --- yeah sure they may not be ready now but they will be pushing for a game next year and having Coffield get back on the park is going to be good to see because the build of the guy now is going to make him a hell of a presence that we have been lacking - of course there is a lot to play out but with any luck we could have hit the jack pot with some of these kids we have.
Add them on to the Owen , Milera , Windhager , Philipou , Caminiti we are starting to get the cattle to get us were we want to be.

Can I just shock you? I would let North Melbourne take Jack Steele and Hunter Clark for their pick 2 and 2024 1RDP plus Ben McKay.

Steele played his best footy under Ratts, he's in his prime right now but he's captained a club and was in Brownlow conversation the last couple of years. Clark is talented and trending up. Both fit the age profile thst would complement all the young guns at NM and would instantly improve them, so they'd bet that that their 2024 1RDP wouldn’t be top 10.

Steele and Clark are great, I love them, but they are slow and their leadership is questionable plus we're building around the next wave and if they could get us a couple of young mid guns, maybe it's worth the risk?

Come at me

There arnt many players at the end of the year I think won’t be available. I’ve come around to the thinking that Clark is gone

Reckon the Steele criticism is incredibly harsh.
A broken collarbone, and a medial knee injury that he came back from early on both occasions is never going to lead to consistent high level form throughout the home and away season.
Reckon RTB would love his willingness to put his team first, rather than his individual performance akin to former players like Hayes and Riewoldt would do.
He hasn’t had a good run at it the last 18 months, and while his form doesn’t help, he’s far from the problem.
With a full preseason and a clean bill of health we’ll have to Jack we know and love back.

We are not in a ‘gut the list’ rebuild, we’re in a ‘cut the dead-wood’ position.
You still need senior leaders, and we’ve seen before to take us forward and help develop the younger players in combination with the coaches.
However, we’ll start to put a line through those senior players who don’t provide a consistent line of form, and continue to make the same mistakes.
Players like Howard, Gresham, Seb, Battle, Webster & Hill will be in strife over the next two years and should be moved on.
These are the players that are stunting the development of a kid, but not moving the needle themselves.

Are we bottoming out now? We need older guys to bring through kids. Steele is having an average season due to injury but he'll be back to a reliable mid again next year. When he gets injured we struggle to stay competitive every year.

Clark could probably be tradeable but you have to balance it with what you'd get back.I think you improve the mids around him, he has the most consistent disposal and inside 50 entry at the club.

McKay is a free agent so you'd be giving charity.

Pick 2 doesn't seem like it would be a mid intros draft so you'd be waiting until next year and hoping pick one next year is a mid. Probably starts peaking around 2028....if they aren't another Billings. We don't have that amount of time.

Instead of chasing TDK, I’d throw an offer at Sam Hayes, leave Roma as our main man & play Hayes in the forward line where he evidently was pretty handy in his draft years. That way we have someone to chop out in the ruck & all those opposition intercept players may just find it a bit more difficult getting the easy kick.

Would also look at Bonar cheap, to see if RTB can get him to his full potential.

North can GAGF

Where's our help? Where's our compo for McCartin? Why does Cam McKenzie play for Hawthorn? Where's our priority picks for the Watters/Richo dark ages?

1 finals series in 12 years is as much of a basketcase as any. North have finished in the top-8 four times in that same period, including 2 prelims.
