I wonder what the afl would do. Because if we get band 2 which is pick 19 and they have given north end of first compo which is also pick 19. Who gets the first pick

Do you really think the AFL wont favour North? The draft is so compromised this year an end of first round pick (band 2), could end being a pick in the 20's. As it stands if Gresham was traded he would probably get us a late 1st round pick, so if we can get a band 1 for him that would be a great outcome.

It looks like Gresham is out the door, if so I hope we look at some replacements eg Shaun Mannagh at the draft/s?

From a player perspective St Kilda lose a goal kicking midfielder and full back and gain a 31 year old who doesn't get on the track.
Righto.

I clearly don't value those players like you do.

Both are second rounders. It's not up for debate outside our supporter base.

On top of that, Howard isn't best 22 and Gresham is scraping the barrel best 22.

To end up with a first and a second and the 31 year old who i personally don't want but we are getting anyway is a good result.

Let me guess, you want two first rounders for Gresh and a top five pick for Howard? Am i close? lol

I would be pretty pissed if they bumped us. We get the pick for loosing a good player. They get it for incompetence

If we got 13 and Shiel for Gresham and hypothetically we took a midfielder with that pick.

The chances of that mid contributing straight off the bat in year 1 are low.

Having Shiel there is a benefit. A fit and firing Shiel is a huge positive as he would be our best clearance mid

Understand that, but it depends what is offered to Shiel. If its another Hannebery type offer, then its a resounding NO. If its a one year, prove yourself and no guarantees then MAYBE.

Fit and firing is the crucial part here. If this is true and it’s only a year then there’s minimal risk but I’m certainly not going to expect him to come in and become our best clearance midfielder. I expected a lot from Hannebery and that was a mistake.

I think if you assume that he’ll never play again, then anything more would be a pleasant surprise.

It’s Essendon we’re talking about here.

Forget the player, just look at the trade capital.

My goodness, what's the tldr here for a poor saint living overseas? I hope we don't get Essendon's junk

tldr: Bomber supporters fail at maths and identifying anything related, get pissy when explanations are provided and have a sook.

That's about where everyone is at, there's a few that are sporting red words because of it.

Not sure what the opposite of rose-tinted glasses is but think we'd be mad to let Howard go for anything less than at least a mid 1st.

Don't get me wrong, he infuriates me as much as the next guy but we need a genuine tall full-back. Cordy isn't the answer and a key position defender in his prime years are hard to come by. If he can just stop thinking he's Nick Daicos coming out of the backline and play within his limits he's strong enough and aerially good enough to stop some of the afls best key forwards.

They get the pick at end of first round, after all FA compo and other dodgey manipulations are done before they get their dodgey manipulation.
If we got 19, they get 20.
