Give the Trade period an A. Got 2 players , i think will play round 1 next year. 2 first rounders and kept next years first.

Lost a player as much as i liked him but hadn't played AFL in 2 years in Coffield.

Lost another that has huge upside but culturally it was time to move him on in Gresham. Very Successful period.

Honestly taking multiple first round picks in the draft (or a high pick) plus getting Henry and Dow through the door with minimal pain is was what I wanted so I am happy.

Pick 35 or 40 only really mattered if we could manufacture a way to get two picks in that range to try and trade up, we didn't so it is what it is.

Focus on what is important.

We lack mids who can actually win clearances.

Whereas we have two of the best HBFs in the AFL in Sinclair and Nas who Coffield would only be a back up to.

So we gain a first 22 player that fills a need, and lose a Sandy player who would have been depth. Plus some loss in later pick value, though with the plus of more value in the likely stronger 2024 draft.

Given our strengths and weaknesses, it sounds like a win to me.

We lowkey got scammed but hopefully we can get Johnston at 40 now

If this is correct then essentially we got a 5 place pick upgrade this year and a whole round upgrade next year (dependent on next years ladder positions of the Blues and the Dockers) for pick 54 in this draft which we didn't plan on using anyway. We also got a productive midfielder, which we need for an interceting 3rd defender, which we have enough of.

Seems ok to me Screenshot_20231017_094324_Ecosia.jpg

No mate, we downgraded our pick this year

Dow trade not official until 3pm tomorrow.

Despite the fact they've published on their ****ing website

It's official:

The details of the deal are:

Carlton receives
Future third-round pick (tied to Essendon), future fourth-round pick (tied to Western Bulldogs), future fourth-round pick (tied to Fremantle)
Carlton gives up
Paddy Dow, future third-round pick, future fourth-round pick

Essendon receives
Pick 35, future fourth-round pick (tied to Carlton)
Essendon gives up
Pick 52, future third-round pick

St Kilda receives
Paddy Dow, Pick 40, future third-round pick (tied to Carlton)
St Kilda gives up
Nick Coffield, Pick 35, Pick 56, future fourth-round pick (tied to Fremantle)

Western Bulldogs receive
Nick Coffield, Pick 52, Pick 56
Western Bulldogs give up
Pick 40, future-fourth round pick

So we gave up pick 35 and 56 but got back 40 and fuure 3rd. Not as bad as I thought. I thought we just gave up 35 only but nothing back.
