Tell you what, I’m going to ride that future third all next season.
Whoa, babe!

I'm rapt with Dow, I think he is well worth what we've given. It takes some players a bit longer to find their feet, but he was very good in the games I saw.
Welcome Paddy, it's OK , you're a Sainter now.

And seeya Coff....all the best and everything....when we play against you, I know we can count on you for a few short steps when the heat is on..(we always could)

The bleating over Coffield (who wanted to leave) and some ratshit picks at the arse end of the draft is mildly ridiculous.

Pick 50-odd might be a superstar, or more likely a bloke who plays 0-40 games then gets delisted.

Coffield hasn’t played in two years.

With our midfield needs, I’d rather have Dow, frankly.
I'm still upset. We blew a chance to recruit Lewis Pierce 2.0

Focus on what is important.

We lack mids who can actually win clearances.

Whereas we have two of the best HBFs in the AFL in Sinclair and Nas who Coffield would only be a back up to.

So we gain a first 22 player that fills a need, and lose a Sandy player who would have been depth. Plus some loss in later pick value, though with the plus of more value the likely stronger 2024 draft.

Given our strengths and weaknesses, it sounds like a win to me.
We tried Coffield as a mid and it didn't work.

Dow trade not official until 3pm tomorrow.

What the heck is there to review it looks fairly even?
Hopefully they give Essendon the arse.

Dogs lose 40, gain Coffield
Saints lose Coffield, gain Dow
Blues lose Dow, gain 40

Why does it have to be any harder than that?

**** giving Essendon a leg-up.

So to look at the whole board for the Saints at the moment - the ishes indicate the yoyo effect of the draft bidding system

Twomey on Shiel - just a watch at this point. There is a pulse for a trade in the dying hours tomorrow. It wasn’t up for grabs, it looked like it was over. But there is still a little bit of movement behind the scenes. Might be 10% might be 15% - but just keep a watch on that.

2 years left on his deal

Ross post elimination final presser:
" we need midfield support - we'll be active through the mechanisms available, draft, trade and FA"

4 weeks later:
Club brings in a genuine inside mid and an exciting wingman with pace something we lacked as whitfield and co cut us to pieces.

bigfooty users:
"but we let go a guy who hadn't played in years who when fit was behind an AA HBF and a back 6 22 under 22 member"

thats enough internet for me today.

Dons can have 21 & 40
We eat their celery dump & take pick 9

Not sure how that would look to Coff if we offered him one year because of injuries but give Shiel two while knowing he missed half of this year and won’t be training fully before Christmas.
But the list is a work in progress and we need mids.

Plus the old saying.
Everyone looks better in Saints colours.
