One for next year

----

Cumming was one of several Team Heppell players that could have been named BOG in an even performance. He played on the left half forward flank in the opening half and was his teams primary hit up target moving forward, in the second half he shifted on ball and had an influence at stoppage. Overall he was involved in a high percentage of his teams scoring chains, and at times seemed to be playing his own personal game of Where's Walley.

The club needs burning down if we come close to considering that shite.
Throw a blanket over the top 7-8 players. We ain’t getting Draper at 4. So why not? I get why we’d be reluctant. But it’s not like we’ve nailed our high picks anyway. Hamish needs a few darts to throw.

Pick 4 in this draft should be absolutely basic to nail....

This has Draper at 9 now. Surely he doesn't get that far?

Probably just a reaction to him missing the combine & no I don't think he drops that far.

I would say its probably mostly to do with the FS. Not sure if a few on the list are but there are a few that have names well established in AFL. So if thats the case that pushes some players down the list. Only one I know is Ashcroft. But that means we are destined to have our pick 4 turn to pick 5-7 depending on bids

They are one person's ratings of players talent not a phantom draft. I think most have Draper higher but opinions be like.....

Im warming to the idea of Langford, just seems a real natural footballer. Has no trouble finding the pill and kicks goals as well which is a huge plus. Posters have suggested his speed and agility testing wasn’t great, I wonder how it stacks up against guys like Bont and Cripps?

Also not too worried about him having an overlapping skill set with Dawson, by the time Langford is up and going, Dawson can make the move back to HB (which I still think is his best spot).

Speed and explosiveness still an issue with our mid setup but I wonder if the recruitment of Peatling and injection of Ranks through there helps sway which sort of player we target.

Are you surprised Langford's teammate Cooper Hynes isn't getting more love, I don't think he's too far behind Langford in what he could be at AFL level with more time in the midfield? I think he's a genuine later 1st round chance talent wise?

He's a step down for me, I think he can be a competent AFL footballer but not one that is jumping off the table at me, more second round I'd say. Great size though which will hold him in good stead.

I really don't get the Dawson/Langford comparisons, other than the penetrating kick he's not in the same ballpark with a fit and firing Dawson precision wise?

A very eccentric set of rankings from The Age: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl...of-a-wide-open-afl-draft-20240930-p5kek3.html

Tauru at 3 (!) and Kako at 6. Also claims Richmond are seriously considering Lalor at 1.

I like Langford (who we're rumoured to be into) but I don't think he's the right fit for our build. We already have two slow guys with a raking left-foot kick on the list. Suspect we'll just take Draper if he's there, his style fits our needs. Although I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with a Lalor or FOS.
