You’d be surprised

They use this sort of stuff

If he’s contracted to play afl then player managers would have a very dim view of it unless it was mutual decision

Disagree. He has been under contract for 6 years and he has played AFL 7 times (being subbed multiple times).

Agents would love if he was released. They would appreciate an unwanted player being paid out (at full commission to everyone) and getting an opportunity to go play football or earn more money elsewhere.

Any trades to happen would have to involve North wanting Tauru (so one of Draper/Langford will be there at 6)

Tigers weren't even willing to part with 6, 18 for 2 (so no chance they part with a F1, even if it's a swap of F1), would be a ballsy call to do that year 1 of the rebuild

North go FOS I believe and the dreams of trading dies with it
with respect, so many people are making assumptions about how things land tonight and believing media chat makes things fait accompli

  • no guarantee Tiges dont ultimately do 6 and 18 for 2 - time will tell and they would hardly telegraph it
  • people celebrating Draper at 4 and discussing our express pace midfield next year

I just think lets wait before celebrating as if any draft is going to cause surprises this is it. Nobody has won the 'poker game' yet

In AFL would be ok if a club wanted him

The crows contracted him to be afl listed for 2 years

Club error , club needs to wear it .

Things can also change . I remember Chris Mayne looking like an amateur footballer when he went to pies then having a fair old turnaround

Yeah - but this is now a business.

Sure they wear it -but they wear it by having the salary cap implications - not by keeping a spud on an AFL list just so the player feels good about being on a list.

Sure it can. But if the club wants to terminate a player and the player gets paid out in full - then what is the problem?

Thats the thing I dont understand. The player is getting their full financial agreed contract. Would it be better for the player to sit on the list and the coach to say - we aint playing you no matter what?

and LESS than zero percent Tigers give up F1 when its 99.99999999999999% going to be number one
Yes, their F1 will be #1 - but do they also have any other teams' F1 picks? I know they had recruitment managers at several other clubs acting as if they were still Richmond employees, throwing ridiculous draft picks at them for a whole variety of players. I can't remember what they ended up with in the way of future picks.

good point. they almost certainly WILL have F1 from other clubs BUT likely not until they get into their late teen picks or even picks in 20's

Rumoured to push 1-2 later picks into F1's

west coast (2), Dons (2) and Suns (3) F1 according to this

I hear you, but I have wondered if tonight, it gets to our pick 4 and Smith is still there - Richmond like him a lot as they do Lalor. Might an on night offer from them come where it may be 4 + F1 for their 6 + F1..yes its likely pick 1 to us and we may improve next year but were bottom 4 this year. But to get Smith now, is that enough to twist their arm on such a possible attempt?
Bite thier hand off if offering future first

That is Dyson Sharp locked in

Then just take one of Langford/Smillie/Reid

listening to SEN with Gazey - and Andy Maher (strong Blues fan) who also just said Blues taking Smith

Lots of similar information now. Either things happen as expected OR a great misinformation campaign by the Blues here

Hamish said he was extremely pleased with how Tyler went this year.
Assuming you are talking about Hamish talking on Gettable this morning, was anyone else a little surprised he also talked up Tauru as a top 3-4 option (IIRC). Just thought that was a little strange and wondering if any hidden messaging behind it

Tigers should go hard for Pick 2, it would really potentially accelerate their rebuild getting the two best mids in this draft.

Talking him up to try and use some last minute influence on North's psyche maybe (trying to plant a further seed of doubt in their minds)...as if North take him, then its more likely our guy is there at 4

Nah mate, I am watching the draft tonight not some blokes walking gently around a rainbow :)

Agreed 100%. Tiges should do it. It’s whether Kangas are prepared to then miss best 4 mids and likely Tauru by sliding back to 6

If North keep resisting for Pick 2, the "realistic" best that Tigers could offer is Picks 6 and 10.

Getting the two "best" players in the 2024 draft and potentially the "best" player in 2025 draft, assuming they win the spoon, will really set the foundation for them. I use quotation marks, because we dont know how these players will turn out in the future.

North blew their load too early over Tauru.

If they kept their cards close to their chest and gave misinformation, they could have easily done a trade with the Tigers for Pick 6 and another 1st, without attracting the attention of a threat by Melbourne to take Tauru at Pick 5.

Stole this from the Main Board.

Seriously Van Berlo?? Ffs could we not ask McLeod or Modra or even Rory Sloane to do this job?

Is there a world in which Atkins, Lukosius and Burgess are bezzy mates from their time on the Gold Coast, so in order to keep the Rat and Lukosius happy, Port swoop in for Burgess?
I'll allow it 1.gif

Yeah, surely it's a job for Sloane. Changing of the guard and all that.

If we draft a Victorian, he probably won't even know who VB is.

Hamish said he was extremely pleased with how Tyler went this year.
No he didn't ......Hamish said the Club was very pleased with his written assignments .....no mention of on-field play, other than "he has a lot of work to do"
